Fast forward a few years, someone reads a book about the room, but says you can't pull the wool over my eyes, I'm convinced the sign was green.

Which brings us back to the recently discussed mythology surrounding the rumoured unreleased track from the debut album ...Red Light, Green Light.

Seriously though, a friend of this site has made available to me a copy of Pegasus Carousel...and so I am about to start on it. As a historian, I really do relish the prospect of reading a first hand account of what happened back then.

Youll spot Conka 'passing the baton' to the new drummer, in a supermarket. Apparently on furlough.

dont hesitate to post any questions about any head scratching passages.

You will love it, John...Michael is quite honest about his life and his PERSONAL accounts are amusing and insightful.... sometimes painfully so.....but never in anger or spite. A good read. Having to get the OJ for Arthur is amusing for me and SO "Arthur".

Its a good read. You can read it in an afternoon in your easy chair with the feet kicked up!

Mind you don't forget the cat!

"Red light green light" doesn't seem to have been found. Not surprised as Elektra seems to have lost the masters for Forever Changes as well (!)

It wasn't MSW that got the OJ for Arthur, it was Kenny. I would be interested in finding out what you make of that OJ story.

Read the book with an open mind but dont let it break your mind,
there's more to come:
IN THE COURT of KING ARTHUR is coming up next- rearrange the faces give em all another name.

lk "So, what would we call this subject if and when it is published IN BOOK FORM?!

THE BOOK OF TORBEN:
THE SACRED TEXT OF THE LATER DAY DISCIPLES OF LOVE"

Ha ha, great idea lemon.

Damn, I love reading this stuff. I only saw Arthur once, at the Hullabaloo, in (?) '66, as bobF did, and I caught sight of him outside on sunset and remember how tall and angular he was. So, with the exception of playing the original albums til the grooves turned white, I have nothing to contribute but opinion. I was at the Whiskey benefit when Arthur needed us; that's pretty much my LOVE experience, but the band will always stand out as one of my choices when I was just a young adult; after Please, Please, Please, Tutti Frutti and Blue Suede Shoes.
I love this site.

I don't get it - Michael would still see (artist) royalties from his time with Love though, even if he won the court case. I mean he played on the records, and Forever Changes was always in print (unlike, say, Four Sail, which was IMPOSSIBLE to find for a while save on compilations)

It seems that Bryans copyrights are supporting his mother Elizabeth now, so at least that worked out... eventually...

Love seems to have owned their own publishing, though it seems that it all went to Arthur for a while

Should've just split their publishing like the Doors!

I refer you to Buffalos book pg 207 where MR MSW says that FC still sells, but it doesnt bother him because he won over arthur in the settlement. if you sell or give away your rights to royalties
you dont get them anymore. Note that PC starts out by MSW
book finding the LOVE BOX reissue. He was very surprised, as everyone thought LOVE was a thing of the past. Suddenly the settlement didnt appear to be so good.
Who knows, maybe some of the other members came to settle with AL at some point, dont know.

Bryan took back his publishing which is not the same as royalties from
record sales.
Look at the Doors, the drummer who probably never wrote a song in his life, now can veto anything. Not a very good idea. A better
idea is to do something on your own, maybe write a tune or two, which you can then publish.

Geeze, Waxburn...now you are trashing the Doors' fine drummer....is nothing sacred?

But theDoors were a democratic band and it was and is share and share alike. Morrison would not have been the same without that unique sounding band. The Doors would not exist. None before or since sounded like they did.

The same goes for Love...without THE band, Arthur was lost.....all other incarnations were just not the same....and ALL should share in the success for the parts they played, as they did in the failure for so many years...sales-wise. This was not Neil Diamond and his backing rotating band....this was LOVE! A perfect union of musicians and Arthur Lee.

I am not trashing him, im stating the facts. I know if i wrote a song that was a big hit from which everyone made much money from ,i would be upset if a former band member would refuses to license the song, which he DID NOT write and has been receiving royalties for many years. They chose to, but if it was me, it would be a no go.

Love was never a commercial success. Arthur tried to keep the group together and revive it, he was obliged to seek other band members.

I dont know what AL should or not done, i know that if i write the song i wrote the song. If the drummer writes the song then he wrote the song. Its easy to want AL to share when all the songs are his, and nobody outside of Bryan wrote anything.

Like Snoop said there was no love lost amongst the members of LOVE, the Neil Diamond band probably fills the description of a perfect union of musicians than Love. I think Ron Tutt played with ND for many years.

The Doors had the added benefit, of watching Love self destruct.... They wisely chose not to make the same mistakes. Smart decision, they all wound-up "PHAT."

Love lasted lot longer than the Doors.
I think that Kreiger and the Manzarek cant even tour under the DOOR name

Kreiger got screwed. And he wrote the songs. the Doors was Jim Morrison. I dont care how many internet forums say otherwise Jim Morrison, in my book, was the Doors.
