I love side 2 also. Pretty trippy George Martin music.

Laura Nyro's Live From Mountain Stage - an intimate concert recorded just a few years before her early death. It is the only place where you can hear her sensual and Coltraine inspired, The Roll of the Ocean. It also includes, prophetically, And When I Die:
"And when I die, there'll be one child born... ....and a world to carry on."

Electric lash of trees in the studio Fills my head with light Only the voice of the girl on the radio Falls from a height
And I turn to leave as if in a cameo It doesn't feel quite right Only one thing you ever really know If it's day or night....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dspcqm2AUxA ... a beautiful acoustic version of "Electric Lash" by the Church. Nice music video too.

Joe Strummer and the Mescalaros....Rock Art and the X-Ray Style. Havent played it for a long time, and it still sounds brilliant and as good as anything currently out there to me.
FROM WILSEDEN TO CRICKLEWOOD, I TELL YOU THETOWN LOOKED GOOD. |

John Prine's (self-titled , 1971) also...John Prine's 1999 " In Spite of Ourselves" is so great, it chokes me up and then cracks me up, like these lyrics from, "we're not the jet set", "no we're not the jet set we're the old Chevro-let set Our steak and martinis is draft beer with weenies..."

I love Prine. A little unfairly maligned in some camps for his guitar technique (but it's no worse than Dylan's!), he has written some wonderful songs over the last forty years. That first album is a beauty - to single out but one track, Sam Stone just has to be one of the best anti-war songs ever written. Indeed, I've seen it written that it is one of the best debut albums of all time, an opinion with which I wholeheartedly agree. |

It is Allan, it really is!
I loved Joe, from the first time I saw him with The Clash in 1976, my all time hero! I saw The Mescaleros several times, a great live act... wonderful stuff |

The Orb - U F Off( best of) / Ultra Rare Trax Hadn't played this stuff for yonks ... got rid of my Gong vinyl when finacially embarrased, still peed off I had to miss seeing them the other week, and realised the only Hillage I've got is playing on 'Blue Room'. Some nice Jah Wobble too. Brings back memories of sunny Friday evenings heading north out of London up the M1, passing convoys of campervans off to raves, me on my own adventures.. also realised that some of this stuffs now twenty years old. Were'szat gone? |
