Still listening a lot to Mojo's blues album of the year. "Broadside" by Ian Siegal. It's not actually that much blues, as there's a good mixture country and funky stuff too, but definitely blues based. |

Mono Peppers is a must and I only listen to the mono (though I grew up with the stereo LP! ) ...and as Lennon said- "You haven't heard Sgt Peppers until you've heard the mono mix." Mono was preferred by the Beatles...after all, they mixed it.

Time I got out Low's lovely 'Christmas' mini lp for it's annual occupation of my cd player. Seeing them perform it in its entirety last year was one of the very few gigs I'll give a 'ten' to. Also playing: 'Future Games' - Spirit's meisterwork. My companion for thirty-two years now.... |

That is a lovely little record isn't it. Low can be great live, apart from the time, last year, when the guitarist had some kind of breakdown and flung his guitar into the audience, at the End of the Road Festival.
As for other Xmas records, I'm a sucker for my Nat King Cole's Xmas album and, of course, the Phil Spector one but for a single song, it's got to be The Pogues 'Fairytale of New York', featuring the late, great, Kirsty MacColl. |

I remember The Second City comedy show on TV did a skit about Perry Como. They advertised Como's upcoming show as his MOST RELAXED EVER! Then you saw him tucked in bed holding a mike and barely singing.

Best Christmas record in my collection is 'The Night Before Christmas' by Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams. Joziah recites the poem over the rest of the band playing Cream's 'Pressed Rat and Warthog'. Believe me, it works!! Their mashup of Angels We Have heard On High and Gloria is a corker too. |

>Joan Baez' "Noel" is very fine.
>I always listen to Menotti's "Amahl & The Night Visitors" every Christmas...the 1957 original. Remember when that was premiered on TV. Brilliant! ....Back when we used to get original TV masterpiece PREMIERS on TV!!

I'm partial to two versions of White Christmas. The Drifters Doo Wop version (featured on Home Alone) and Otis Reddings soulful rendition done in a way only Otis can do. |

I love that too, though both Bowie and Bing are clearly not with it at all (in different ways!!) |
