Pretty Things, SF Sorrow. How this record existed in obscurity for so long, I don't know. It was recorded at Abbey Road during the spring/summer of '67, along with Sergeant Pepper and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Just as good as anything else from that era that has been raved about, like The Doors, etc. It is the rather bleak story of one Sebastian F. Sorrow, which inspired Pete Townsend to write Tommy. |

There a few Pretties fans here, TJ..... SF & Parachute...two of the all time best LPs, period!! And those CD extras are pretty amazing too. Another great one by the Pretties is Freeway Madness....and of course the one Ol' Man and I have raved about....Pretty Things & Phillipe DeBarge on Ugly Things label......recorded between SF & Parachute. Sweet!!!

They certainly opened the way with the rep they had.....a natural progression from Beatles' heroes such as rockabilly Buddy Holly to rockin' country. That was Ringo's contribution, as he was into that stuff before the Beatles when he was bigger than the Beatles!!
Moving far away from county to tripping mellow moods.... Rainy Day, Dream Away/1983/Moon, Turn The Tides...gently gently away....." Hendrix

I watched "Don't Look Back" last night . Picked up the collectors edition DVD on ebay for $2.99. So good. ....how many artists, that have been around 40+ years, are still recording masterpieces --- as Dylan has, throughout each phase of his musical journey??!!
He could have quit at the acoustic phase in '66 and still be considered one of the BEST EVER.

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. '70's country-rock band. I have a serious ear-worm of their record, " Jackie Blue"!
