markk....I like the mix you got there...I like new music but sometimes I have to say like Cream..."those were the days"...

lk.."jug band music"...You know that reminds me of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Rare Junk"...there are some interesting songs on that record.....there's one called "Collegiana", man talk about jug band..

MR. lemonade kid mentioned "the village green...." by the Kinks (lazy me not wanna type entire title so i'm wasting my time explaining it here...Duh!), and i'm playing my cd mono version now. ai'nt it good!
this is the KINKS' last recording session release with bassist,
Pete Quaife. a great album! 1968. a great year, but weren't all those 60s good, up till about mid seventies!? Nicky Hopkins is on it. he was also on a few other band's recordings!

Yes, you know arguably it's the Kinks' greatest record. They were going against the tide then talking about "ye olde england"...;-)..
Davies is a genius. I forgot but the Kinks were actually banned here for 4 years when they made the record. It was supposedly for "unprofessional conduct". And what the heck was that all about????...I don't think they pulled a "Morrison", eh????.....

God only knows what the boys from the Nixon/Hoover gang were thinking....but there were a few odd (illegal)legal goings on back then! Pardon ME!!!!

Back to the Kinks....Is the mono nice, bob? It has no listing as ever being issued in mono in '68. End of the mono era, except for a few mono DJ releases from time to time.

the cd i have is the Castle mono/stereo 1998. both the mono and stereo versions with differene tracks. the mono version sounds flat compared to the stereo one, at least on this cd. i'm wearing my "back to stereo" pin!

Sounds like a stereo mix down to mono......like FC, which would have been done
for radio. Earlier monos are so rich and full...wall of sound kind of experience, like a live
performance in your room. Course it's best to have a TT with a mono/stereo switch.

Even revolver has some major differences that I heard while listening the other day. Rubber Soul for sure!!!! Nice. I'll take early mono every time...Rave Up, Over Under, Little Games...all great in mono!! Every pre-1968 LP I have is better in mono....the Left Banke in mono is a must hear!! Gimme Some Lovin' mono!!! Sweet!!

it's the fallen angels part 2. on Collectables Records.
originally on Roulette Records, this great band was screwed by Roulette which did no promotion, then was dropped from the label.
shame on those idiots, and praise to the album masterpiece: "It's A Long Way Down", their 2nd lp subtitled "part 2" by Collectables Records. i haven't heard their recent new band stuff, and don't care to. "part 2" is a masterpiece, LOVE- worthy of re-discovery.
