LK: the 1970s version of the Bow Street Runners came from Fayetteville, North Carolina. they then recorded later after their lp, another cd recently called, "new classics rock", with surviving members. the cd from Sundazed is the band from North Carolina, recorded 1970. that is the record I like. i haven't heard that new one yet. thanx for the news. yeah....I heard "high flying bird" by wizards. really cool stuff! I will get the cd. Get the "Bow Street Runners" self titled lp vinyl, or cd from Sundazed for psych-fuzz rock-pop-blues.

knew that they were from NC...just a mental lapse!! They are amazing and their last on from 2002 is a great swan song. Wizard's "High Flying Bird" is the best cover I've heard of that...best version period....the rest of their great LP is just as strong...not a weak track!! I'm trying to find an MP3 or video to sahre here so ALL can see!!!! Can't stop playing The Wizards From Kansas!!
Here is the convincer! An mp3 player code for your player or PC of "High Flying Bird", a Quicksilver/Airplane drenched masterpiece.

The Children. "Rebirth" album(1968) cd from GEAR FAB RECORDS. This Texas band's earlier, more garage rock stuff is included on this compilation. all in all, it's psych-pop-rock , ecclectic and rootsy and always entertaining. my pick of the week.

Blues McGoos are so GOOD!!
"Oh, what a morning....!!!!" Laura Nyro from her Christmas and the Beads of Sweat LP. Lyrics from "Brown Earth"
I think that's my favorite of her great works...if I had to choose, but don't make me choose, please!!
Next track..."Well, I was a free port and you were the main drag...' WHAT A LINE!!!
NOW, I'm listening to "New York Tendaberry"......and i've concluded I love all her works!!
Here is "Captain For Dark Mornings" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_gu5ZNB_RY&feature=related

i'm playing "set you free this time", and the rest of the "turn turn turn" cd! (again). just for the halibut. it comforts me. there seems to be an appreciation of Byrds here, which is easy to understand. 3 of the original Byrds are still alive. i hope to see a Byrds concert , again soon!

Lemonadekid - Back in the early 1980s BBC Radio One used to run a weekly series entitled My Top Twelve - it was based on the Desert Island Discs idea really. Joni Mitchell was the guest one week and Laura's Captain For Dark Mornings was one of her selections - what a tribute! Great video by the way. |

The Human Beinz. "Nobody But Me" and " Evolutions" CDs of their 1968 albums. great stuff, except for their rendition of "Foxy Lady", why !? An amazing band of garage-psychedelic rock- pop creativity, overlooked. there might be some vinyl LPs in MONO out there for those of us who prefere!. anyways, it's fun and groovy, ecclectic music full of surprise!
