yeay! i love the pedal steel!!! Jay Dee Maness still lives. hell, i collect almost any record with pedal! even the cheesy instrumental solo albums featuring pedal steel. i just love the sound. r.i.p. Sneaky Pete, Brumley, and support your local pedal steel guitarist!
i like the 2 Dillard & Clark albums. Chris plays on both, but Sneaky Pete plays only on "through the morning..." album.
i'm grateful for having seen the Dillards, Byrds, and B. Springfield concert in 1966.
i just now played ""Hellbound Train" lp by Savoy Brown.

lk..yes...well for me those Matthews' records are something else....
I don't know must be the "countryside" and the English side of things that draws me to those great songs...I don't know...is there something called "English country music"????....a pint for "Obray Ramsey!".....

bob...I put in "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" on over the weekend because that record introduce me to "country" sound with the pedal steel..Jay dee I think was on there....not sure if he was on "One Hundred years from Now" but the way the steel was played in that song got me for life...city boy starts livin' in de countree.....

Great steel artists, bob. Fantastic Expedition is....fantastic!!!!

I think you're right. rocker.....Iain's English folk sensibilities added to his love for American country rock is magic. I have a white label promo of "Go For Broke". Such a great album.Darkness, Darkness(my favorite Jesse Colin Young song....Jesse's guitar has to be one of the best on that track from "Elephant Mountain"), Lonely Hunter......

But for Iain's English/American country soul...RHYTHM OF THE WEST gets me every time!!

By the way...you can get free downloads of Iain & the Swinelakers from Blue Rose Records...just click on MP3s and scroll down. There are some great bands here with a bunch of free mp3s to get us all into their catalog. A pretty cool site.

Wolfgang's Vault just this week has posted a show from the Roundhouse
Chalk Farm in London that is Peter Green's final British appearance with
Fleetwood Mac, and he truly just tears the show up with some of the
most amazing Peter Green guitar I've ever heard. The set list is very
heavy with "Then Play On" material; it's got the best "Green Manalishi"
ever, a killer "Coming Your Way," and it opens with a "Black Magic
Woman" that pretty much makes you say "Carlos who?" Find the show
at www.wolfgangsvault.com.

Nice, Rick. I read that the band went on too long...over the playing time allotted for their set....their power was pulled, but Mick just kept drummin' on!!

Hey ol' man, I was just listening to Blonde on Blonde too! Start to finish. Mono vinyl.

Now I'm listening to All Along The Watchtower, by The Wizards From Kansas. Nice jazzy, 60s psych.

The Texas band, bob?!! Love them. I have their last CD of new music from 2002 called New Classic Rock. It's very good. They have been playing gigs all these years so they still have it!! They still have that pop/psych sound without the female voice. Unfortunately the two lead members passed away in '06. RIP. Listen and marvel, heh?!!
