John Martyn - 'One World' (Deluxe Edition). The bonus disc has live material featuring some of the most searing but at the same time transcendentally beautiful guitar you'll ever hear. I do not exaggerate.

I've been playing the new Sal Valentino album "Dreamin' Man". Sal was the lead singer in the Beau Brummels and Stoneground. Both groups are from the Bay Area.

i just love that honky-tonk Bakersfield stuff that Chris Hillman does on the " Bakersfield Bound" CD. Jay Dee Maness on pedal steel. up front where it belongs. proud and sure. magic. pedal steel is my favorite electric musical instrument sound. Sneaky Pete and Burrito Bros. wetted my appetite, and i've fed it with all i can. god bless the pedal steel. the sound: multi-dimensional, cosmic, deep and precise, supportive and yet upfront and leading, etheric, yet sharp as a blade. warm as honey, and cold as icy-steel. from Mars. interplanetary. harmonics galore! notes that bend, weep, soar. i hear it is a very difficult instrument to play well. the good players must be truly blessed.

I have been listening to :

Sonic Youth's Goo album and their Daydream Nation. Also, a healthy dose of Arthur Lee's Vindicator and Love's Four Sail. Other than that I have been trying to listen to as much David Bowie and The Beatles as I can stomach.

I love Bowie and The Beatles. Literally all of that stuff has been my focus. Really I am trying to get into Sonic Youth, so that has taken the forefront.

I love the song "Hey Joni" from the Daydream Nation album. I also recently traded some stuff in at the record shop for Murray Street which I am not too high on yet.

I saw a 2 CD John Peel "Rawlinsons" set on Ebay last week but I thought it was way too pricey for a homemade CD-R so I passed on it. I did buy a live Bonzos CD and a "Teddy Boys Don't Knit" CD at more reasonable prices.

Ritchie Blackmore - Getaway, Groups & Sessions 1963-70),a collection of things he did as a session musicer and band member before joining Purple, especially The Lancaster Satan`s holiday (which is Edvard Grieg Dovrebubbens hall-typically Ritchie humour) is just brilliant, with Blackmores vicious surf guitar
