i tend to get into phases, hooked on certain albums and/or songs at different times.
i'm still hooked on Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson's "Bakersfield Bound" CD! pedal steel GALORE!!!
sometimes i just have to play it out of my system to free me from it's spell!

...what the world needs now...

great choice..hope Jay Dee is getting gigs!..Hillman's last cd was more "bluegrassy" I think...ANY band JD is in just goes right on up.
You know it would be nice for JD to cut a record. Wonder what it would sound like. I know Sneaky Pete Kleinow (in the Burritos) did one.

as I was listening to FC it occurred to me that I wouldn't mind hearing instrumental (strings, horns etc) only covers of Love's songs....nobody I think has ever done it...might not be everyone's cup of tea but there's plenty of melody to mine in those songs I think...worth a cd..

Allan..I don't know if Arthur liked "Life During Wartime" but I figured he would've loved it. I think he couldve' just as easily written those Davey Byrne lines..
This ain't no party this ain't no disco this ain't no foolin' around
This ain't no Mudd Club or CBGB
I ain't got time for that now!!!"

Lived in a brownstone,
Lived in a ghetto
I,ve lived all over this town.
I really think TALKING HEADS were the last arty, intelligete band to come out of U.S.A...much better than Frank Black + the Pixies. Not that it,s a contest, but Byrne sounds as real and current now as then.
First saw them here in 1977, on the undercard to Boomtown Rats (Geldoff,s band) and the Ramones. Best band on the night by far, and they were a 3 peice then.
Great memories.
Thanks Rocker

you know Davey B did have the stars aligned with his band.....I think with LDWT they stared "dread" in the face just like Arthur and it was entertaining too!...two peas in a pod...and need to be in an iPod..;-)...

This talk of DB's made me pull out his recent soundtrack album 'Lead Us ot Into Temptation'. Mainly string-based, and a world away from early Heads, it is music that absorbs, relaxes and transports, and is, I promise, lovely stuff.
