Tim Buckley - 'Song To The Siren' (both versions) from the 'Morning Glory' anthology. Ouch.
Richard Thompson - 'Watching The Dark'.

X Ray Spex - germ free adolescents
Blind Faith
and in the car Gram parsons' GP

i had a strange dream last week in which steve winwood was sitting on a padded bench talking about normal ordinary things, sitting beside Rod stewart and I, trying to liven it up a bit said I'd been listening to that 'can't find my way home' blind faith track.. then had to go into a mumble as I realised SW was the singer...

then Rod was on X factor, so maybe it'll be the Winwood back catalogue they'll be tackling this week. Now that would be something.

Keep on shining

Great on a Strat, great on a Hammond, great on vocals ... and even now 'only' 58. Prodigies. Don't you hate 'em? ( No- well not this one anyway). Wish I could've caught that Traffic reunion tour.. and wish that he'd done more stuff with Stanshall.. and John Martyn for that matter.. I don't doubt that there's plenty of good unreleased stuff in Island's vaults that's been left to moulder after Chris Blackwell's departure. There certainly is a lot of Marley, I've heard. Enough ruminating and ranting - I'm off to play John Barleycorn.

Have you got the Traffic reunion DVD? Fantastic performance, although the director does his best to ruin it by inserting daft bits of non-related footage and graphics into the gig.

Aye, Winwood was incredible. He could sing like a black bluesman at the age of 16. I mean, that just shouldn't happen. Imagine that these days. He'd have been auditioning for a boy band or something.

Winwood could sing like a black bluesman because he started his career backing many of them when they came to the UK in the early '6o's. Check out his biography on Wikipedia. He played with the greats night after night and just soaked it up.
