So true. It's all too easy to get into it for hours, mentally adding hundreds and hundreds of dollars (or pounds, or krones, or what-have-ye) worth of music to one's want list. There is a broad range of excellent and highly entertaining reviews. |

Hi Caryne and Astrolobe, nice to know there are some fellow Copeheads on the board. Head Heritage is one of my most frequently visited sites - after this, of course. You can find another one of my favourites by entering fortean times breaking news on Google. More entertaining brainfood. Nothing to do with music, but what the hell..some of the reported phenomena therein transcend anything that could be conjoured up by psychedelic means. Recommended, if you have yet to visit. I'm off there again right now.. |

Has no-one mentioned the Doors - first 4 ablums, surely psychedelic...
My personal fave freak out band has to be The Misunderstood (played very loud), who allegedly introduced feedback and influenced both Barrett-era Floyd and Hendrix...
Come to think of it, I ought to recommend them too!
Barrett-era Floyd and Hendrix...
plus one hit (miss) wonders on Nuggets, Pebbles, Bam Caruso compilations etc. |

Yes, it's an excellent compilation, with most, but not all of the two albums - misses out The Sky Children, which would otherwise make it perfect. If you liked that there is also a double CD with White Faced Lady and From Home to Home (as Fairfield Parlour).
For great UK psych I would also recommend the Mojo compilation Acid Drops, Spacedust & Flying Saucers, which is an excellent overview of the slightly more successful and the obscure. Also includes a track by the Misunderstood, a group justifiably mentioned more than once in this thread. (Little known fact, TM were managed at one point by one John Ravenscroft aka Peel. Seems the man knew his psychedelia; after all, he listed Section 43 by Country Joe & The Fish as his favourite instrumental.) |

Cheers! Yeah, I love Purple MK1. I'm a big fan of the band anyway, but I have a big soft spot for their early psychedelic years, especially their self-titled third album. Wonderful! |

asrolobe33 (Jon) and MHM (Chris)
I got Easter Everywhere by the 13th Floor Elevators about a week ago on CD. It's awesome...I play it all the time now. Great recommendation and Thank You.
Before the Jefferson Airplane, there was a group called The Great Society. I think this was Gracie's first band. I have a double LP which includes a first album, Conspicuous Only in its Absence, and it's like early garage semi psychedelic. Great versions of Somebody to Love and White Rabbit. I feel that Gracie was at her best with this LP. It's early SF...recorded at The Matrix, well before Gracie became so commercial.
