Well, my final words then, because we'll never agree, especially if you didn't see the Germany gig. I really liked the music they were playing (except for, my apologies already, Revelation, which I also don't like at Da Capo), but I didn't like the way they did it. Í didn't think the band liked what they were doing, and that they were just doing their jobs. Like I said 20 times already, I just saw two gigs, with a brilliant Arthur Lee, so I can only compare this one with those two.

I like Rusty's sharp suits (green one specially). It's great to hear good music coming from someone dressed formally - like those old bluesmen when they came on tour, always very smart, and always amazing music.
thank goodness they band haven't had stylists in...
or, maybe they have - something to suit all fans eh?
Keep on shining |

I'm with you Lizzy, I think Rusty always looks pretty cool in what he wears (and he's always dressed, more or less like that so why the comment now I don't understand?)but, as has been said by 'Love', I would never make a comment that a person wasn't dressed in the right way to be in a band, I just wouldn't expect that from an adult music fan...maybe if it was a 'Westlife' fan site or something? |

You are right, I didn't see the gig so I will keep this general, if the band were 'just doing their jobs' they would be back in LA actually working on their '9 to 5' jobs and earning some money, not in Europe, working their backsides off, at a great financial loss, to give the European fans some great music that they are not going to hear any other way at the moment.

One thing I have learnt from my own experience on this board is that if you dont make out that "everything in the garden is rosy" then you are regarded with near contempt. Those guys who went to the Herzberg Festival are entitled to their views and from my perspective they are fully justified BECAUSE their conclusions match my own following a recent "Love" gig. Love without Arthur are a pale imitation and are quite simply a tribute band who in fairness play the songs very well. Sadly some of the Thought Police who regularly patrol this Board seem to take objection to the truth!! |

There may be something to that thorntree but I think a lot of people are either losing sight of or are unaware of just how BAD some of the recent shows with Arthur have been. Its a comparison which at this point in time is completely valid. Of course everyone here would prefer seeing Arthur doing what he does best, unfortunately some of his recent performances have been downright ugly. |

'thorntree' your name says it all and I have my own, personal thoughts on that. Yes, the people who went to the German gig are entitled to their opinions but, and I still have to repeat this, two new posters with identical views appearing together, well, just seems a little odd..but then, quite a few of the 'new' posters in the last few weeks are quite interesting Seriously, if I thought, for one minute, that the band, without Arthur, were crap I would say so...there was a time, a few months ago, when I just couldn't even bring myself to post on this board because there were lots of people saying everything with Arthur was wonderful and I knew it wasn't. I am many things but I will not support a band who aren't any good, simple as that. The band without Arthur are revitalised, they bring a new freshness to the material that I havn't heard since 2002...I have to say it, it's like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders. If you don't want to see the band without Arthur then that is your choice but, as Larry says, recent performances have been so erratic, I'm not sure I want to see Arthur until (if ever) things with him are very different. Have you seen the band in the last few weeks 'thorntree' or are you just, as your name suggests, being a little 'prickly' for your own reasons? |

Had to add my two cents. And Lizzy you made me laugh. Being a former Benefit Cosmetic Girl maybe I could Kohl rustys eyes put a little glitter on the lids take off the shirt and just put on a tux suit. Mike and Dave could just play sans shirts with tophats and we could really "hippy" Johnny up? Ya think that would make them play better? lol In response to this whole thing, frankly, there are so many diehard Arthur fans on this board that I thought the guys were in a a rough ride throughout this tour. How happy I was to see that people came, supported them and said they put on a flamin show. I question the post about Germany only because I cannot imagine these guys not giving three hundred percent no matter what the venue. And they are such awesome musicians you can not walk away disappointed. All I can say about Arthur is when he is on, he is incredible. But he is no longer on. I can count on two hands the number of times I thought he was going to just pass out on the stage. I don't think that's fair to his fans plus it's downright heartbreaking. It's anybodys guess what happens from here. I understand he didn't go to rehab so they will have to deal with the addict AND the ego. Not a good mix. And he's been sitting at home hearing rave reviews. I imagine he is not a happy camper. Bottom line, if he comes back, I'll support the band as it lines up now. If he doesn't I will support the band without him. My loyalty lies with the band not Arthur. They do not disappoint. EVER.
And Thorntree and the german guy. You have no idea how f@3333ed up Arthur has been. If you were disappointed now you would have been devastated. The man couldn't remember his lyrics, couldn't walk, couldn't talk and was abusive to the fans and the band. Unless you're in to watching a icon make a total fool of himself, be thankful you were spared seeing him in that condition. And I AM a Arthur Lee fan. My heart breaks for him. His future is jail, insanity or death unless he cleans it up. |

Thanks 'ocfan' for those well put words, I agree with everything you say there. And Torben, much as I hate that film (for obvious reasons) it really explains why so many of us understand the situation the band are in now and admire what they have done over the last few weeks in putting a tour together against such adversity. |
