Just curious what might qualify as the last truly GREAT show performed by Love with Arthur Lee? The last show I saw personally was Wilshire Ebell. I'd say that was a GOOD show, but not really a great one. Not because of any deficiencies on the part of Arthur or the band, but I felt the Wilshire Ebell was a rather staid and stuffy venue and not a great place for rock and roll.

I'm sure Arthur would answer this question by saying "The next one!" but obviously that's not what I'm talking about.

Wilshire Ebell was last show I saw, also! was really good, and loved the Henry Fonda Theater show '03, even more.

Last great one I saw was Edinburgh Liquid Room April 11th 2005 - out of 23 shows I've seen of Love with Arthur, I would guess that about 15 would qualify as great shows in my book

I was just listening to the House of Blues show today. Still the greatest in my book. The "Singing Cowboy" with horns, and the "Old Man" with strings were especially moving.

Brighton, at Concorde 2 on April 5th was a great show (the last for me) All three shows that Love with Arthur Lee played there were excellent. As a concert this probably had the edge on the Rocket, but overall I thought that was a great event all round. Looks like Tina might have caught the last great show then, at Edinburgh.

I seem to recall that people who were at the Aberdeen and Glasgow shows, the last two of the spring UK tour, thought they were great as well - Lizzy and I weren't able to make those unfortunately - so hopefuly there'll be some posts about them. I'm off to Scotland myself again in a couple of weeks time, travelling up to Aberdeen for a wedding via Edinburgh and Glasgow - brilliant country, and it has been reported that Arthur always loved doing gigs there - lets hope he'll be back sometime to do a few more

any Love show too me is a great one...
I've only seen them twice some 30 something years apart...and own most of the recorded material including Arhtur's solo album Vindicator...
Show # 1 at the Filmore East with the KinKs in 1970...and
Show # 2 at the Bowery Ballrrom in NYC about 2 years ago? They will always be one of my top 10 bands of all time ever. ( along with the KinKs, and Ramones too )

Hi Tina, I was at the Aberdeen Show and confirm it was great one, even better than the previous one they played at the Lemon Tree - and that was excellent too. Arthur was in great voice, BL really together (but weren't they always) and there was a great atmosphere culminating in all the band, including Arthur, coming into the bar after the show and signing autographs, etc.

I totally agree with Jazmaan..House of Blues was magnificent in everyway. Arthur's voice was truly operatic in tone and he knew it. His posture and body language was like that of a cross between a panther and Otis Redding. His wonderful sense of humor shone during little bits like turning the lyric sheet to Old Man away from his sight to prove he didnt need them. Not that night. The Love/Zombies show in San Francisco was excellent also. A fine recording of the henry Fonda Theater in LA from 2 years ago presents another excellent show and features J Echols on nearly the entire show!

jimmyboy...I didn't see the HOB show being back here on the East Coast. But I do have a recording of the show. The band sounds terrific, and Arthur does seem to be in fine spirits. It must have been something to see Johnny and DC up on the stage ...

I saw the band in NYC at Town Hall with The Zombies. It was a very good show, though I wasn't too fond of the sound quality. Saw them again for their next show at the Scottish Rite Theater in NJ (only about 20 minutes away from where I live). Smaller crowd but better sound. That's where I had some 'talk time' with Arthur and Johnny, and they signed my FC LP cover.

The memories...
