sorry if this question gets asked a lot but i'd be quite interested to know which 'love' songs people would consider to be their all time favs?
i'd have to say my absolute favourite would be 'you set the scene'
closely followed by 'old man', 'your mind and we belong together' and 'the red telephone'
guess it depends on what mood you're in at the time and also different versions of a song can affect choices i.e some tracks just sound so different live

Probably August. Closely followed by Seven and seven is, signed DC and You set the scene, closely followed again by about 50 others.
Ask tomorrow and this might be different....hopefully my favourite Love track is one I have not yet heard but will do so in the very near future. |

"Alone Again Or" remains an all-time favourite. Otherwise "Let and Let Live" rates very highly...this song affects me on a very deep level (it's a pity some people don't seem to here it beyond the first line). "You Set the Scene" is a mini- masterpiece, of course. Then there's "Message to Pretty","My Flash on You" andmoreagain... All the best, John E |

Hi Kula John, I bought "Ifyoubelievein" on vinyl, but didn't play it enough to assess it properly. However, I must say that no tracks instantly grabbed me in the way the way that I thought they would. My copy has a free single which includes 1/2 different versions of "Alone Again Or". Neither these or the version on the album were as good as the version on FC, though. I must listen to it again, because I bought it during the years before I got passionately back into Love's music. I haven't heard "Candy's Waltz", but a friend of mine who quite liked "Ifyoubelievein" told me to approach the second album with caution. All the best, John E |

ok thanks for that John E, yeh i've heard some clips of some of the songs on it but i am just quite intrigued to hear the rest of it...plus the different versions of old man, orange skies and alone again or. I managed to get it 2nd hand off amazon so it has only cost me £5-6 so i reckon it'll be worth the money!!

Kula John...To me, 'Ifyoubelievein' shows the very sensitive and sincere side of Bryan. It is not a Rock album and so you will be disappointed if you're expecting that. LOVE was a group of 5 individuals, that managed to play together as a band. The incredible bass lines of Ken really broke ground for its time, the tremendous drumming of Michael, the superior guitar playing of Johnny, and the beautiful writings of Bryan [Softly to Me, Old Man, etc.]. I believe there was always some friction between Arthur and Bryan-read Pegasus Carousel by Michael Stuart-Ware...it's a very interesting account of the band through his eyes.
My favorites-

Hey Kula, I have both and ifyoubelievein is much better than Candy's Waltz. "CW" isn't horrible or anything, but a couple on tunes I could really do without. "Husband and Father" is worse than a fork on a blackboard.

Always a difficult task... My faves (this week), one each from the first 6 lps: Emotions (such a cool surf-oid instrumental) She Comes In Colors (beautiful) The Daily Planet (Echol's lead sound is pure primal Electricity!) August (solid) Gather 'Round (moving) The Everlasting First (Jimi!) + non-lp: Your Mind And We Belong Together (phenomenal) Feathered Fish (will clean yer clock) when i was invisible i needed no light, Jon |
