It seems that there are more viewers here at any one time than any other site--at least based on my limited browsing...whether it be Doors, Beatles or whatever site.
Maybe it is because there are so many multiple sites for more well known bands...it just gets spread out!
But for us, and what looks like the rest of the world of LoVE...
Torben's Arthur Lee/LoVE site is the one and only forum that matters!...and we all keep it real and LoVE filled.
A side note, I'm so grateful for all you members here who will talk about your wide ranging love of music in general. Many sites' members are a bit snobbish and get pissed when one speaks of anything other than what the revered BAND site is named for...and it's impossible to get them to move into other areas or even read other topics.
Torben's LoVE Forum rules!!

and yet...
Love at their peak only cut 3 albums, culminating in the wonderful Forever Changes...
what does THAT mean? is it like the cult of Pink Floyd that held that Pink Floyd only cut one decent album in 1967 or who held Shakespeare for creating such a short lived fellow at Mercutio dying at the climax of the play hes found himself in (unluckily for him a tragedy!)
and don't get me started on Nick Drake ! Hes got more compilations than proper albums he cut while alive!!
(Heaven in a wild flower, Nick Drake, A treasury, Way to blue, etc etc!) |

I can only surmise it is a deep seeded fear and "prejudice"...fear of new ideas, music, or thoughts; and "prejudice" of any music or idea that they are not safe with. If they can't relate or even give it a chance, then it must be crap...
One would think the internet has made people more open, but I suppose it can have the opposite effect too. It can polarize, and strengthen fears and prejudices by making available like-minded individuals.
But we just wanna spread the peace and the music and the LoVE!!

My left eye has kind of leveled off...after a great post operative recovery...it can take two years to fully come back, if it does. I guess I would be legally blind of I only had my left eye. But the brain is a miracle of wonders and it has chosen to ignore my left eye, using my right as a "template" of sorts. So I can work and drive AND see, but it still isn't as good as I'd like. There is a slight halo or faint double effect sometimes that I usually can ignore.
Night driving is the worst...but I manage.
Thanks for asking, Joe. Maybe you got a longer answer than you wanted...
(Which leads me to asking..ROCKER--how is your eye & vision recovering!)

re: Nick's Mom
So, a good review? I haven't heard it. But it was where Nick got his muse, so it is worth finding.

Molly Drake - Love isn't a right
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO9tIVooNa0
This is from the 98 (99?) BBC special (Stranger Among Us) on Nick when Joe Boyd was playing a tape of Mollys songs for Robert Kirby (Nicks arranger on Five Leaves Left, Bryter layter) and others
I've probably burned you this on dvdr - if not will get to it one of these years. Not too much Nick Drake on video.. |

ok lk we got the same issues...And I note to all check your blinkers once a year at least! I guess you're used to sight in just 1 eye. Not bad but it isn't stereoscopic eh? And yes night night isn't very good. Glare flareup from those headlights. But the op was right, don't look at'em...;-)... |

Heaven help you if you still need glasses after Lasik |

Seeeee.....this is what I love about Torb's!! Discussions!
Lasik CAN work -- very well, or not at ALL. It seems to be a toss of the dice.
My left eye still gives me stereo vision, and is very important for general vision such as peripheral and depth perception still. What is lost in the left eye is just in the macular area (blurry now)....that is the size of a pin head and gives us ALL OF OUR FINE vision for reading etc.
Just so you all know what to watch for....it is called Macular Puckering. Scar tissue (from an injury or sometimes for NO REASON like me) forms over the macular area and causes the retina to pucker....then the vision becomes distorted and can be totally lost there--surgery is the only option to remove the scar tissue. It will eventually flatten out again and maybe vision will return to normal.. Very similar in effect to macular degeneration, but macular degeneration is NOT curable...thank goodness I don't have THAT!!
As my Doc said--the eyes are the most complex organs in your body....treasure them! I kinda like my ears TOO....listen to the music!

Oh I'll second that. We should pen a song called the "Retina Blooz" by the "Macula Puckaz"! Complex isn't the word. I got faked out thinkng that that surgery fixed things. Well it did but when you get that it causes other stuff to go on in the eye..complex see?? I should've been an optho. You learn stuff about the "lamps" when you walk around like Oedipus, eh?...

You are correct mac degeneration is not curable. I've had it in one eye since i was 30. No injury, no rhyme or reason. I went to see a DR. Lawrence Yannuzzi, Park Ave, Manhattan. He is the guy that wrote the textbooks for the retina. The best eye specialists in the world are located in Manhattan. But my good eye compensates greatly as if the condition is not there. Driving at nite does require some concentration. I was very surprised to read all these posts on eye conditions, it just hit home for me. |
