Everyone comes out like a living saint in that book, except Arthur.

Thanks,ruxprncd.

I would not call it a "novel", waxburn. I would call it: personal recollections....just because it does not jive with certain other Love members in some instances does not mean their recollections are more true than his.

Afterall, a certain "previous Love drummer" spread a few rumours that could more closely be called fiction, wouldn't you say!!!

Michael is quite credible and a great guy, so I tend to believe Michael's recollections, even over Arthur's in many cases...I seem to remember Arthur embellishing a few memories at times!

I dont know what his gripe with Arthur really is. He got a settlement from Arthur, so Arthur didnt owe him anything(that major detail was not in the book i read, i would that a glaring omission). his recollections sure seemed to be selective. You would think that outside or Arthur all the other members of Love were some kind of boyscouts.
in the Snoopy interview, it seems the rest of the band, comes off a lot worse than Arthur. A lot worse.

The new history that everyone was responsible for LOVE but Arthur is in MHO fiction.

Glad to hear it's being reprinted. A few years ago I was in a Borders store with the book in my hand but no spare money. "Next week," I said. Next week it was gone.

Amazing that in this little town there's someone else who'd be interested. Who is the b@st@rd that stole my copy??? Some day I will find him.

And buy him (or her) a beverage... we'll have something to talk about.

its a good book, well worth the read

not the kind of book you'll reach for if you want to LEARN something about the sessions for Forever Changes, or what have you (the Einarson book is particularly good on FC, as well as the Love Story film)
but well worth checking out to understand the relationships IN the band

Wonder if the revision touches on the death of Arthur. That was shocking, as it seemed he had been through everything: jail, tripping over a video tape and having to wear a cast at a gig, and so forth

Joe...I am pretty sure that there is nothing about Arthur's death or any Arthur after
Michael left Love, as Pegasus is about (as you said) his relationship with Love,
Arthur and Michael's music world--before, during and after Love, but mostly Love.
There are more photos, and a new afterword, but the main text has not
changed...that was the last word from Michael, and it had gone to the publisher to be printed when he told me that.

Wow. he must've been really bitter if he didn't touch on Arthurs death. He even mentioned Bryan's death, although he does not seem particularly close to Bryan

As he was to Kenny, for example, or Snoopy, both of whom he lived with

I would say he had an honest respect and affection for Arthur...afterall, Arthur was after him to play in Love for quite a while and called Michael the best drummer he had ever heard.

Wasn't Pegasus first published BEFORE Arthur's death? Maybe he touches on that and more in the new afterword. But again, the book was about mostly his experience with all of Love....it was not an Arthru bio, or Love bio....it was a Michael auto-bio!

he wasn't close enough to Arthur it seems. What did he know about Arthur, that he was looking at books on songwriting?

Arthur (post prison)criticized Michael for publishing a book, because he didn't really know him, but the book's focus is on the relationship between the members of the band

And, basically, why it broke up

His music was often terrific, but he is NOT the stuff of heroes

Hes very lucky to have gotten out of prison. Someone was smiling on him. He could easily been jailed for the rest of his natural

KD: Hey LK. My favorite alltime Arthur criticism was something
I read once in the Castle. Someone interviewer asked him about
Janis Joplin.

Arthur's response ? "She was nothing but a lousey, no talent
loud mouthed chick" !

Go Arthur !

So lk what do you think of the "new" printing? I guess Michael stands by comepletly on what he wrote earlier about hsi experiences.
No change in reflection I guess, eh?
