Who the hell has booked the Bierkeller for Love in Bristol?? It's the biggest dive in the city and really is vile...please someone needs their head examining booking them in there. |

Ben, you have a point! I saw the comedian Rich Hall there a while back and whilst he was generally taking the p*ss out of the state of the place one of the lines he said was 'this is the only cellar you walk upstairs to' Tina, not really back, just shocked out of my head at Love playing such a dive! lol

The Fleece, again, would have been far better or even the Fiddlers over in Bedminster...just because someone hasn't played a venue doesn't mean they have to! Sorry, I have already had several mates, including one who is a huge Love fan, saying he won't go because the venue is a 's*ithole'....not good |

The Fleece would be too small! remember last time with the crowd outside I would have prefered the Academy as I missed last years gig there!

Last time was the first time Love had played in Bristol for many, many years, hence the large crowd outside the Fleece. Now, they have played here (Bristol) several times and, though I may be wrong, I think (from what people have said to me) that the 'casual gig goer' is a little 'Loved out'and, though I would like to be proved wrong, I doubt they now have the pulling power they had then. I still reckon the Fleece or The Fiddlers would have suited them fine.
There is no way they would get anywhere near filling the Academy, they didn't last time and they really wouldn't now. |

I'll go..but then that's me...I've got to be honest, I wouldn't travel any distance to see Love at that venue, I live less than two miles away but I wouldn't put myself out for it. I'm seeing Nick Cave too (of course) I'm in Row H, stalls, where are you? Saw him at Brixton Academy last November, sublime. |

The Bierkeller really does not deserve this rant! It's the right size for a Love crowd and should be a very intimate gig. I can think of many worse places including the Carling Acadamy.

Well, there's no accounting for taste is there...the Carling Academy does have lots wrong with it but, sorry, as someone who has been going to gigs (in Bristol) for over thirty years I think I can say I know my venues and the general consensus, amongst gig goers (and bands) in Bristol has always been the Bierkeller is a dive...do you work for the place? At least the Academy has good sight lines and acoustics, not something you can say for the Bierkeller..neither is it quite so filthy.
Anyone else think it interesting that this post, supporting the Bierkeller, is from a first time poster? |

Caryne you should feel lucky you've got such a choice of venues! Try living in Worcester. Good to see you posting again BTW. |

Mind you, it's the fact there is a 'choice' that's the problem... |
