What an iconic movie. Those of us who were lucky enough to see it back in the day at the theatre were blown away....of course, it only added to our negative feelings towards red necks and "pigs"... the whole anti-establishment thing.
The characters were allegedly Based on Roger McGuinn & David Crosby.
I wonderd how you all, as later generations, were affected or felt about this revolutionary kind of filming (for Hollywood), the film itself and of course --the fantastic soundtrack. Also, what about you all that were there in the day...rocker, John9, bob, ol' man, Tina....n' all. You know who I mean....
Dylan was asked to contribute, but was reluctant so the Byrds covered "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding". For the title track, "Ballad Of Easy Rider", Dylan wrote the first verse and simply said-- "Give this to Mcguinn, he'll know what to do with it." Oh yeah, did he!!
Music from Jimi, Steppenwlf, The Byrds, The Band. Here is the title track.....

i remember those posters of Hopper's bike/finger shot! seemed that this was one of the very first "hippie" movies that was "ours". "The Trip", too! before this, Hollywood's portrayal of hipsters was a joke! you know, the Sonny Bono vest, Sears headband, wig hair neatly in place, bell-bottoms, nicely ironed Laugh-In shirt, clean fringed boots, groovy, man! but don't mention drugs!

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure the rest of the album is pretty good though, what with the Dylan cover Si Tu Dois Partir |

Was "Easy Rider" on the CD as a bonus? I don't have it on my "Unhalfbricking" vinyl. It's on my Fairport anthology 2 disc set....

Nice. Any other gems? I found a mint 2-eye Ballad of Easy Rider. Hard to find a nice 2-eye of that one.

What a great name for a psych band...I'm surprised no one picked it up...."Guardian of the Safety of the World" in 1949!! I don't remember the show, Before the days of syndication. I wonder if it was taped and was it released on DVD or VHS?
