Yes but spare a thought for those of us at Man City - the richest club in the world....but only one place above the dreaded relegation zone. |

hey is Hughesie going to lose his job?....and Ince is another guy on a string...and Keano left..man, being a Premiership mgr has you always looking at the unemployment lines!...if you ask me keano should've plied his trade in the lower divisions first just to soak up some background on what it takes to manage and win and the same time ...managing Torquay ain't so bad if you get to learn something |

An amazing cup win last night for Blyth against Bournemouth, Lizzy B ..and I'm certain that the town's name will aptly suit the mood of its people today! And what of one of our local non league sides - Droyslden - who were last night saved by an electrical failure and most now face hapless Chesterfield a fourth time. As David Beckham once so memorably put it, "that's what the Cap's all abaart". |

Nice to see that you guys have the FA's going on and are really involved ....I love to watch those games...we get some games here on Fox so I try to watch whenever the games come on... nothing like seeing those 'carpenters', 'plumbers' etc etc beat some of the big boys some of the time...those games can be amazing...

Hi Rocker - strictly speaking, the biggest non-league cup achievement of all time was ........Tottenham Hotspur....who were in the Southern League when they beat Sheffield United 3-1 in the FA Cup Final replay of 1901 - after a 2-2 draw. Here's a link to that one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1901_FA_Cup_Final
More recently I can remember (again from the Southern League) Wimbledon winning at top flight Burnley in 1975. My local side Altrincham despatched Birmingham City (who were again in the top division)some time in the 80s. Some other famous ones were Bedford Town's victory at (then Second Division) Newcastle in the early 60s -and some years before that Yeovil (yet again from the Southern League) accounted for Arsenal - although I believe there was some dispute about Yeovil's then sloping pitch! I don't know....The Gunners....they've always got an excuse haven't they? |

I'm ever so sorry - I've done Arsenal a considerable disservice. It was Sunderland who fell to Yeovil...and that was in 1949. Arsenal do have however two distinctions of their own in this department. They went out to Walsall in 1933...and to Wrexham in 1992. I'll stop now!! |

Yes they did - but if we're thinking of the same occasion (mid 90s), that was in the League Cup. United also fell in the third round of the FA Cup to Bournemouth back in the mid 80s. But of course, that sort of thing couldn't happen these days............could it? |

Hi to all
i think the best ever 'shock' in the FA Cup has to be Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the Final.
Sadly struggling now but my home town team Aylesbury UTD are the only non league side to reach the FA Cup 2nd Proper in something like 12 consecutive seasons, even more amazing i use to play for them! lol
kind regards Jim. |

oh thanks for all that info...he heh so what would you all do if the FA was gonna get rid of the Cup, eh?????..and good luck to your towns...(now I know why sometimes there's a problem when it comes to "club" vs "country"...localism runs high with you guys!...
those 1901 pix were great..they went and didn't get any prawn sandwiches and no "box" seats....
and things some I know would like to see..manu between Charlton and Doncaster right now in the Coca-Cola.... |
