Maybe Harry's time has come? Lots of football knowledge and I think he's great man-management manager. What I know he doesn't want to happen is that the ride gets to be "stalled" especially by play at what happeend at Fulham. To win you need fine players that concentrate 99 minutes! And If he gets Given..well....

Here on the Black and White Rollercoaster we have JFK still.

"You must be Jokin'. 'Ere?"
hmmm

Soon we'll be back to the times when you could be walking through the toon at noon and say "reet pet lets gan t' the match" because there was always loads of seats left.
Oh how we wallow in despair.
My apologies to our friends over the water to whom this whole thread must be considerably below the Important threshold.

Keep on shining

The last time I said "reet let's gan t' the match" at St James's Park was when Manchester City blew the League title there in 1972. Mind you, in 1968 we did clinch the title there - and I was there for that one as well. It's strange that I haven't been back in all these years because I visit Newcastle quite a lot - including this last weekend. It is a fantastic city.

Hey John, as you're a Man City fan I thought I'd seek your opinion. I'm a Plymouth fan (yep, we do exist!!) and we recently signed Emile Mpenza. Now, if reports are to be believed he's on £10,000 a week at Argyle....serious dosh for a club like us! We were all quite annoyed as he hasn't featured much yet this season as our manager said he wasn't 100% fit, but in the last couple of weeks he's come close to full fitness and he's been given a run out. Long story short, in his first couple of appearances he has been class! Scored a couple and you can see there is something about him. His touch is top notch and he has a good football brain. He's clearly still a bit too good for the Championship it would seem!

A Man City supporting mate of mine told me I'd be disappointed but so far he's wrong! What are your views on Mpenza?

This is the time and this is the time and it is time, time, time, time, time, time, time.....

Hi Kula John. You had a great win over Cardiff City on Saturday! I always liked Emile Mpenza - we got him on a free nearly two years ago from a club in the Middle East - I'm not certain how he had ended up out there. He did really well for us during the remainder of the 06-07 season and I was convinced that he would be our ticket to a respectable finish. But then of course we had the first of our takeovers and all manner of experimentation began. As I recall, Emile would often find himself on the bench during Sven Goran Erikson's time and of course this last summer, he reached 30 and was presumably thought surplus to requirements. As far as I know, he still is in the reckoning for Belgian international call-up, although as you say, he has not been completely fit of late. I was heartened to hear you say that you are impressed with him and really hope that he can you in the drive for a play-off place.

Yeh it was a great win on Saturday and a welcome, if rare, appearance on the box made it even better! I guess with all of Man City's cash Mpenza would've struggled to have played regularly but I reckon he could still do a job at another Premiership club. Oh well, it's our gain and hopefully he might be able to give us that extra edge to sneak into the playoffs!

Anyway, thanks for your opinion John, it's good to hear that we may have a really decent player on our hands. Apologies for taking the topib away from the Premiership!!!

Well, I'm quite satisfied today...my team have drawn one of the 'big four' in the 3rd round of the FA Cup .

A nice trip to the Emirates Stadium for Argyle and judging by the Gooners current form we could just deliver another cup shock! What will be funny is watching the ticket sales for this game. Our average attendance is a mere 10,000 this season so far but you can bet there will be about 25,000 people trying to get tickets for this game!!

This is the time and this is the time and it is time, time, time, time, time, time, time.....

Yes Kula John - you're going from strength to strength. And the way Arsenal are just at present, you could well have a decent chance. I've just returned from the City - United game at Eastlands. In fairness, the Reds deserved to win...we only seemed to be up for it after Rooney had put them ahead. As Jasper Carrott always used to say of his beloved Birmingham City...."You lose some, you draw some."

Amazing - within a few minutes of me posting my last comment, Arsenal have scored twice at Stamford Bridge to take a 2-1 lead!

I watched that game and I can't believe Chelsea took the foot off the pedals in the 2nd. Probably alot of yelling by Scolari in the lcoker room after that one. Have to credit Arsenal they attacked and took their great chances. Tough one for City, eh? 1 is all it takes! You'll get'em next time, eh? With the race the way it is 'Pool will have to bag the game with West Ham. As we know all games are big!...
John9 you noted that 'Pool might get to the top after all these years. I don't know. That league is a killer. I know Rafa's got a strategy but it needs to be played out until the end.

Yes - hard luck, Rocker. I wonder whether perhaps the Top Four each have a secret wish not to win the Premier League this year. I still think that 'Pool will do it though. Their second half display at City a month or two back was awesome - they were like the proverbial team from another planet.

Yes, they did look good didn't they? When the all the cylinders are pumping they can play. But as you can see with the Fulham and West Ham game sometimes they don't break through. Instead of 3 pts they get 1. I think you'd agree that it's the mental game in the Premiership that counts when it comes to those top 4. What gets me with man u is that I think they are "programmed" to win, that it's just inculcated in them that everytime they go out there they just have to win and Ferguson's face is in their heads and he's saying "don't even think about losing to 'Pool or Chelsea or Arsenal and make sure you "destroy" Wigan, Sunderland", etc etc. I think you play better when you have a spear in your back! The race will sure be interesting.
