..and catchin' up on the vids here..great stuff...

Slow turnin'...inside out....slow turnin'...woah...

and Badfinger...nice pick....
Band produced by the Beatles? Or was it just one song?

and oh I was browsing in the store and picked up a discussion on how Harrison crafted his guitar work on 'A Hard Day's Night'. I listened more carefully now and his work with the harmonics in the song is just so fantastic. Writer said nothing came to easy for him when it came to the guitar. He had to work a bit harder and well we get the benefit!

Jay Kaye is a WONDER, bob!!! We'll get it out there!!!!!

Well, rocker, in the liner notes...."a dark masterpiece of orchestral psychedelia. ...
Raised around electric guitars and musicians...he recorded the album during the height of Vancouver psychedelia....he was there from California with his mother, Mary Kaye, internationally acclaimed guitarist--the Mary Kaye Fender Stratocaster was named for her. So he had the background..... He recorded it when he went there--seemed like a good thing to do since he'd be there a few months while his Mom was doing a gig.

...when they got back to LA he shopped it around...Capital liked the songs, but wanted to re-record it....Jay said no...I spent a lot of time getting it right with top notch session guys, so NO. White Whale picked it up and loved it as is. They made a monumental error in marketing the likes of the Moby Grape 45's craziness!! They issued "Break Of Dawn"...a 36 SECOND intro to the LP of instrumental psychedelic sounds! Come on guys! What DJ would play that!!?? They took a potential top selling masterpiece and buried it. At least we all can now enjoy it.

I love discovering these kind of lost treasures!! It's like it really is a brand new release, and it's 1968 all over again!!

I'm listening to the track and I wonder what Eno would've said about this. I agree about the Radiohead comment but I could also see how "ambient" (before ambient made its mark) would fit in too even with the vocals. He produced a great "soundscape". Also, he sounds a bit like Richard from the Verve at times.

Thanks, rocker. Happy St. Pat's.

I almost missed your John Hiatt reference above. "Slow Turning " is my favorite song and LP of John's. I've got 5 or 6 of his LPs. Love his stuff!!

Not sure if we've mentioned one of the greatest female vocalists for my money....a great interpreter of so many...Neil Young, Michael Nesmith, and many others, but especially of Warren Zevon......

Linda Ronstadt

Here is the lovely Linda singing "Long, Long Time" on a Bobby Darin TV special.....an interesting side note....at 2:22 mark, watch the audience reaction to Bobby leaving the stage...out of respect?? Or just because he's off camera now.
