The Brothel is so cool and i also watch this vesion. The came and everyone enjoyed the songs

The Brothel (2010) is My favourite album from this decade! Her first album from 2007 was kind of a sensation here, walls being a number one hit,I wasnt to impressed, yet another JONI mitchell wannabe girl..Then I saw her on Øya festival in 2008 and was blown away by her and her Bands radical versions of the songs from her first album.

But it was first in 2010 I became a fan, when the fantastic Brothel album was released, totally different from her debut album.classical, house, psychedelia, angst rock,electronica.. What the hell is this?? Took me some listening but when I got it I was hooked for life!

A pretty good slow dance. I never realized it was Jeff Beck, no wonder it caught me.

KATE RUSBY sing-a-long!

LET ME BE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95WeNwF5448

Just love Kate - from Penistone, West Riding of Yorkshire. Sometimes known as The Barnsley Nightingale, she has headlined various British national folk festivals, and regarded as one of the most famous English folk singers of contemporary times. In 2001 The Guardian described her as "a superstar of the British acoustic scene." In 2007 the BBC website described her as "The first lady of young folkies". She is one of the few folk singers to have been nominated for the Mercury Prize.

I love a song that tells a story, which is maybe why I like people such as Al Stewart, Mark Knopfler, and even the much maligned Chris de Burgh so much. Anyway, Mark Knopfler was born in Glasgow and though he moved away at an early age, he doesn't seem to have forgotten his roots. Here, his song is of the last days of a Clyde built ship driven ashore to be broken up on the beaches of Alang in the Indian state of Gujarat. I really love this song - sad, haunting, and with a melancholy that is essentially Celtic - "So Far From the Clyde".

What do you call this song? Blues, country, country honk, country rock,
rock? Or all of the above. Only these guys could do a song like this

The Stones were well schooled in American (especially Chicago) blues & r&b..I'd call it folk blues or country blues...it even has that great steel guitar sound from all those great black folk blues artists. I can just imagine Mick & company sitting in at some iconic Chicago blues dive.

Good one, mk. One of my all time favorite LPs.

Hey I almost missed the post on noting Al Stewart and Mark K...
Ye, great storytellers and musicians. I've always thought Mark is special as a guitarist. Has such great tone and the way he plays those melodic notes, it just draws you into a beautiful soundscape. Love all his work. ok let's 'go home' ..at about 3:11 Mark and the band know they're on their way, doin' the job...Mark's a great one...
