Akashaman's blog has turned me on to many weird and wonderful bands no-one else seems to have heard of. Sir Psych's two blogs are both good as well for picking up odd singles etc.
Speaking of bands no-one else has heard of, has anyone else out there heard an album by a band called Bamboo aka Dave 'Snaker' Ray (of Koerner, Ray & Glover: Blues, Rags and Hollers) and Will Donicht? I bought an LP copy of it s/h years ago, just because it was a 1968 Elektra album. Played it again the other day for the first time in ages and was rediscovering how much I like it. |

Haven't heard of that one, boombox. I'll have to google that one. Thanks.
By the way, I turned jim h. onto Wichita Fall (download Akashaman's site)...have you heard that heavily orchestrated 1968 psych gem?!! He loves it, as I have for many years when I found it in a cut-out bin back in 1970.

Thanks for the heads up on that - somehow missed it - very nice, I agree. What's wonderful is the way that blog has reunited the original band members after 35 years. Read the comments for that upload to show how sites like that are not doing the business any harm - you never know, it could be the first time a music blog full of evil downloaders prompts a band reunion!! |

Hah, bb! Right, the comments are great & to have the band members get excited about an LP they recorded 40 years ago & one that they assumed was lost and forgotten...is pretty cool for them. ..and fun to read for us. I don't see anything evil (you're right) about downloading out-of-print/never reissued vinyl from such sites...in fact, it might give a band their well deserved & long overdue recognition--for the first time. An "overnight" sensation!

This obscure Psych LP is quite good for anyone looking to expand their collection with new & quality dreamy pop psych. Variously compared to the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Strawberry Alarm Clock, & Mamas & Papas. Lots of acid fuzz guitar & organ.
It can actually be downloaded at Akashaman's Kosmos' psych blog, along with a couple dozen other obscure vinyl & Cd lost treasures. Good reviews, info & links too.

That's a great blog link LK! It led me onto a few other really good blogs and i've downloaded about 18 new albums so far! A couple of 'Peanut Butter Conspiracy' albums are dominating my speakers at the moment
