today, i played Beatles Yellow Submarine songbook cd, the one that has remixed tracks. great!.... then i slapped on Electric Ladyland, the Merman i should turn to be/ moon turn the tides psych-out masterpiece segway ,and then..... again, "Forever Changes", with the bonus tracks. i drifted along with the music, to familiar worlds of my youth: what has always been my favorite album of all time. always has been. always will be. i just need to say that is why i'm here on this message board. i've never forgotten LOVE, and Arthur Lee's magic, amist the many other great music from that era and beyond. but i always return to Forever Changes to remind me of my roots and inspiration! my favorite way to celebrate the Forever Changes album is to just blast it (when my neighbors are gone), and rejoice!

"child is father to the man",by blood, sweat, and tears, is a vehicle for Al Kooper's vision. i love this album. and, the "Bow Street Runners",on Sundazed records, is great stuff! fuzz/wahwah, and a classic under-known jem.

Hey bob f.,
Funny you mentioned "Child is Father To The Man." Just a couple days ago, while washing dishes, (I sing in the kitchen, not the shower) I started bellowing "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know" which I hadn't heard in years. Great minds, etc. I have the album, somewhere, on vinyl.
Driving home tonight I heard "Radar Love," one of the great car songs of all time, and learned something I never knew. That Golden Earring were from the Netherlands. And yet what's more quintessentially American than a song about being on a long drive at night? (Or is that just my narrow Yank perspective? Anyone feel free to set me straight on that point, I'd be interested to know I'm wrong.) |

Iris Dement "Wasteland of the Free".....go to the web site www.wastelandofthefree.com & download the track....very appropriate to our (USA) present situation.
If you're not familiar with this roots folk singer & sometimes folk rocker, as with the above track, she is one of the most respected singer-song writers out of the deep south (of USA) of the last few decades. You may know "Our Town", the closing song from TV series "Northern Exposure".
Anyone else into Iris? Check her out. |

New Rolling Stones Shine a Light live album, theres some great performances on it especially Shattered, Champagne & Reefer with Buddy Guy and Brown Sugar. The Movie is even better I'd urge anyone to go. |

Yeah its he's good but the best performance would probably be Buddy Guy guesting on Champagne and Reefer, listening to it now its fantastic, Kieth even gives his guitar to Buddy at the end of the song. Buddy & the Stones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQn0RkEAIX0 |

Hey bob f. I love that song. After reading your post, I immediately played Hendrix "By Himself" which is a disc of acoustic demos, one of which is "1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be". Great stuff, I encourage all to check it out.
