Jan Garbarek and The Hlliard Ensemble - 'Officium' If any board members in the UK have recently heard a sax player accompanying a classical male voice choir being used as accompanying music to 'serious' programmes on TV recently then it's very probably been one of the collaborations by the above. Very good for nocturnal 'chilling', and a change to the now over-utilised DJ Shadow and Craig Armstrong for TV soundtracks. |

hey MikeP... wasn't that something else, eh? That guy Eicher was really pushing it to marry a sax with the old ancient stuff....and you know it comes off really good doesn't it? ..that's one of my favorite cd's that I bought a while back...that ECM label that "Officium" is on has some eclectic stuff...now some things don't go for me but others like Officium are "hits"... |

Hi,Rocker, nice to know there's another Garbarek fan out there. On the subject of ECM 'hits', I guess that Keith Tippett's 'Koln Concert' would have to be top of the tree. Bought it 'blind' some twentyfive years ago, popped it on the turntable and sat enraptured. |
