For me the second half of the 60s was as much about British Blues (as opposed to what I call authentic blues) as it was psychedelia. Keef Hartley was the drummer with John Mayall's Blues Band until he was sacked in 1968, whereupon he formed the Keef Hartley Band. This track, Born To Die, is from their excellent 1969 album, Halfbreed. Keef and his band played at Woodstock in 1969 but were the only act there whose act was not recorded for either the film or any soundtrack of the festival - apparently Keef's manager refused filming consent as Martin Scorese wouldn't provide any money up front, and so the recording equipment was switched off, which in hindsight was probably a bit of a tragedy for Keef. The guitar solo is by Ian Cruickshank who subsequently became a leading exponent of Django Rheinhardt style gypsy jazz, which in some ways is a bit sad because he played a mean blues guitar.

This sort of music perhaps takes me back more than any other to those fabulous 60s years.

Brainticket - Euro psychedelia from 1971. This track is from their first album, Cottonwoodhill, which immediately ran into controversy for its association with psychedelic drugs. Much to the band's disgust, the album came with a warning label that insisted you should "only listen once a day to this record. Your brain might be destroyed,” which led to the album being banned in several countries including the USA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjC_V-P3Ndg

Hence we never heard of it...the warning label sounds like a selling point for me. Ha! Thanks, DT.

The Trees, such a great band but wastly unerrated.
From early 70s, norwegian folk music inspired epitaph! Susanne Sundfør once described this vocal technique, as a calling of the cows: kom kyrnå! (come here cows)

Thanks, BF. Wonderful stuff from Trees. Love their music. Always thought they were British! They do have that early 70's amazing Brit/psych/folk sound, but with something a bit different. Guess they are echoing the sound of the fjord's.

Glad you liked Kim Larsen LK! Didnt excpect replies since he sings in danish, was just in the moment, sad and paying homage to scandinavias greatest artist since Cornelis Wresvijk.
In Denmark he was greater than Queen Margrethe (that is actually a cool Queen even for us against monarchy). One of Denmarks most known newspaper had Kim Larsen titles in all their sportscolumn headlines as a tribute, here in Norway Kim Larsen was played in the pause of most top division football games the day after.
Never heard of Abalone Dots before but thumbs up! Especially the River cover is good!
