always liked his rock n roll! that was pre-garage-rock. pre-surf, pre- Mersey-beat. I attended and graduated from Pacoima Jr. High 1966. funny how I also saw Thee Midnighters at San Fernando High , another Latino rock act.

Yes Bob, Stills was definitely on a roll with that one. And the whole venture helped Hillman to raise his game. Two of the best songs are the ones they co-wrote - Both of Us (Bound to Lose) and It Doesn't Matter....but I've always felt that these are such good melodies that they should have been longer. A few years later, Firefall recorded a more fully developed version of It Doesn't Matter for their debut album. I've also got Hillman playing mandolin and singing the song in duet with Kim o'Kelley. That's on the priceless Boarding House Byrds near full reunion show from 1978. |

Red House Jimi Hendrix Valleys of Neptune 8:20 The Hendrix family did Jimi proud with this "newest," album. Right on.

Now I'm grabbing for "All Along The Watchtower"..for me it has to have one of the greatest opening riffs in all of rockdom...In there, Hendrix knows how to get your attention when starting a song... |

So you like it, LeeRob? I was holding off since it seemed not all was so new after all.
Right now I'm Listening to the brilliant SHOOT OUT THE LIGHTS, by Richard and Linda Thompson!
"Just The Motion" So good.

Yes I do. I kind of reacted to the Times artical last month with a bit of dread, feeling that the Hendrix family might go down the long, shameful, "Elvis Presley," road, and re-package ad infinitum product that the artist would never have seen the light of day. I am surprised that this collection is as raw and spirited as anything Hendrix issued in his day.

He is playing tonight at a refurbished Art Deco movie house in town, along with Louden Wainwright III...couple of masters at their game...only $35 a seat. He comes to town every year or two. Quite a following in this small Iowa college town.
Unfortunately I have a funeral visitation to attend....not a close relative, but an obligation.

CRUEL SISTER, by Pentagle

Is there anything better than Jacqui, Bert, John, Danny & Terry on a warm Spring day?. Danny Thompson is one of my favorite musicians and I love the videos with him backing Tim Buckley on those Late Night appearances.
I also love John's vocal work...does anyone have his brilliant "Faro Annie" LP? I love it. I love his sitar work, too.
