Well put Daniel, the audience know exactly what they are getting so there's no way they are being 'ripped-off'. However, I think it is important to remember just how long these four guys have being playing as 'Love' (remembering the gigs were billed as 'Love with Arthur Lee' so who else were they?) No other version of 'Love' has played for half as long as these guys and if anyone deserves the right to call themselves 'Love' then they do..plus they have Johnny Echols as well..hardly a tribute act. |

Aww Allan and Caryne: I'm becoming quite fond of you two. No one is going to be ripped off by going to see this band without Arthur Lee. My hope is that Arthur gets his illness under control and his ego out of the way long enough to realize what a class act he has with him or had with him. These guys never disappoint. They are just too good in their own right. For those of who who think that Arthur Lee IS LOVE. Keep in mind these guys could have just thrown in the towel. But instead, they took a risk to come and hope the fans would still come to see them. To not support them when they have supported Arthur would be a shame. And you are getting to hear music Arthur chose not to play. I took my 15 year old newphew to see them at the Coach House here in California. Arthur was in another one of his states. But my nephew was just blown away by Mike, Johnny, Rusty and the band. Also, they may have saved Arthur's ass for future gigs. At least they showed up and I know what an incredible show they put on. Whether they can continue on with Arthur is anyone's guess but I will support Mike, Johhny and the group and continue to go see them whenever I can. They are just that good. With or without AL.

And I just swapped emails with Michael Stuart and this may be a good time for him to join the tour.

Without wanting to get anyone too excited, I think that is a possibility |

GoodHumorMan...I swap emails with Michael all the time. He seems like a really cool person. There was a chance meeting a couple weeks ago where Johnny and Michael got together for the first time in like 35 years. Michael has very positive things to say about Johnny, and he wishes Johnny and the band all the best...all the time. He has a lot of respect for Johnny, as a person and as a musician.
That would be just awesome-Johnny and Michael gigging together.
I keep trying to prod info out of Michael, but he just won't let on (at least to me) about him doing a 'guest spot' or two with the band in the future.
Allan
P.S.-OCfan...the feeling is mutual. |

Have just woken up after what was possibly the best Love show out of seven I have been to. Yes, I do refer to the Love Without Arthur Lee show last night at Oxford. The band are definitely revitalised at the moment, especially Johnny. OCfan has said all that need to be said about the line-up. Just go see 'em and you will come away buzzing. |

I've just woken up after last night's Oxford show. It was FANTASTIC. The band are really alive and enjoying this 2 hour show. The best that I've ever seen. Shame on Cambridge for panicking at the lack of Arthur and cancelling this show. Well done to those venues that are sticking with it, and giving LOVE fans a chance to see this brilliant show.
If I can get to the Islington Academy tonight (the tube system is currently closed) I am going again.
BRILLIANT!!!! |

Does anyone know if the Islington gig is still going ahead this evening? Given all the security problems today they might cancel.

The Tube is suspended indefinitely and there are no buses at the moment in Zone 1 where the Academy is. People are advised not to travel.

As I have said in the past, nobody wants Daddy-O or anybody else from Baby Lemonade to depart.....One good thing about personnel changes is they give bands a chance to grow and expand...and Baby Lemonade has made that contribution to Love in a big way.
Forever Changes was about mixing lots of instruments with and around Arthur's extraordinary lyrics and vocals. A lot of Love songs could grow with additional percussion....I just think about congas banging away as Arthur is chanting "They're locking em up today, they're throwing away the key." Awesome.
So there is room for both Daddy-O and Michael and I bet both like to experiment with different percussion.
Let's invite Michael back.
