Anybody like to see b]Michael Stuart [/b]again banging the drums in Love.....Michael is alive and well and is receptive to re-joining Arthur and Johnny in Love. How about some comments and support.

Daniel...I'm in fairly regular e-mail contact with Michael. He has shared some 'personal' information with me when he was with the band. I believe he would enjoy getting back with Arthur and Johnny and I would personally LOVE to see that. Michael is a nice guy.

Well with up to 4 guitars already cranking it out, 2 drum kits wouldnt be amiss I guess. It would be nice to see for a short period maybe but lets not forget thats its jobs and wages we are talking here never mind the size of the stage. I dont think anyone would want to see Mike and Daddyo replaced though. |

Exactly, Larry NYC. I mean, LOVE has a fine drummer now, too. I love Michael's dumming-- I mean love it on FC, but do AL and Michael get along?? |

of course Love has a great drummer now. But personally, I would like to see Forever Changes music performed most by those who created the masterpiece.....Had there ever been a Beatles reunion, who would you like to see on drums, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Carmine Appice or Ringo Starr? And it might be time for the great talent in Baby Lemonade to leave the nest.

If Jim Morrison were alive....how would you feel about him putting four guys around him and calling it the Doors with Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger willing and waiting to play?

The guys playing with Arthur now have been Love a lot longer than the original line up of the band. It was great seeing Johnny Echols and he really added to the live performance, but I for one couldn't imagine Love live withour Daddyo. |

Johnny did some 'guest' slots with the band well before he permanently re-united with them. Conka did a guest slot or two as well [RIP Don]. I think it would be nice if Michael also did some 'guest' slots. That's all I mean for now. I'm not meaning to uproot Daddy-O or anyone else for that matter.

Well said GoodHumorMan.
Arthur has only recently been enjoying the 'fruits of his labor'. Now Johnny is here to also enjoy the 'fruits of his labor'. I know that Michael would also LOVE to enjoy the 'fruits of his labor' as well. I know that Michael is very proud of FC and the part he played as a LOVE member

Let me say that I read Michael Stuart's book and thoroughly enjoyed it but two things came across clearly. 1) He doesn't/didn't think much of Arthur. I know Arthur is no saint but there is some real resentment/anger there 2) Michael HATED Forever Changes believe it or not. He said, if I remember correctly, that he listened to the album only once because he associated it with highly unpleasant memories from recording it.
So I ask, if you don't like the lead singer and the main album that the band plays then why else would you want to get back if not for the almighty dollar? Moreover, the band has been reformed for 3 years but only after Johnny gets back does Michael get interested?
Lastly, Daddy has been loyal to the band for the last several years and has done a great job. I could see Stuart guesting on a handful of shows but it would be a shame to push out Daddyo. It also would make Love look more like a nostalgia act. I don't doubt that Stuart may still be a competent drummer but I am doubtful that he is as good as Daddyo is.
I must say I feel bad for saying this because I bought not just Stuart's book but his book on CD-ROM and he was a gentleman in my dealings with him but this just doesn't feel 100% kosher. Sorry if I offended anyone.

bigrubberglove...I think you have it all wrong. Michael has never posted here. Nor has Michael ever made mention in any forum or otherwise of his intent to rejoin the band, or to ouster Daddy-O. If you read GoodHumorMan's post, he says " Anybody like to see b]Michael Stuart [/b]again banging the drums in Love". He's merely asking for opinions.
And don't be rediculous about the money. I think the average number of fans that attend any LOVE concert is about 300 to 400. And there's usually another band appearing with them as well. Just how much money do you think they're making? I have to believe that the band is touring because they love their fans, and they love to play some of the best songs and music that has ever been recorded. The money that they make is nothing to write home about...
LOVE was the sum of individual talents that were terrific musicians. Arthur's superior vocals and songwriting, Johnny's guitar leads, Ken's amazing bass, Bryan's songwriting and backing guitar. Who do you think 'wrote' the drum parts on FC? All I'm saying is...
"Johnny did some 'guest' slots with the band well before he permanently re-united with them. Conka did a guest slot or two as well [RIP Don]. I think it would be nice if Michael also did some 'guest' slots. That's all I mean for now. I'm not meaning to uproot Daddy-O or anyone else for that matter."
This post was not meant to replace Daddy-O with Michael on drums. Also, the original group never really performed FC back in the day, so imagine the thrill Arthur and Johnny have performing FC now.

I am NOT suggesting that Daddyo be booted from the band. He is doing an excellent job. The whole Baby Lemonade is doing an excellent job.
However, it would be great to see the man who set the best on Forever Changes on stage with Arthur and Johnny. So often, a drummer is overlooked. Spencer Dryden, Jefferson Airplane, was overlooked. But when he died in January, it was brought to many people's attention how his unique snare work really made "White Rabbit." With that in mind, listen to "A House is Not a Motel."
Arthur has long made a habit of bringing in and out musicians to diversify and expand the sound. A woodwind player before the second album. Of course, the horns/strings for FC. Jay and his hard rock guitar on Four Sail. Harvey Mandel (ex-Canned Heat) later on. Mike could provide another opportunity.
I just think if Mike rejoined and David Green remained: Well, a double drum section would work well on hard-rock tunes like "7 and 7 is," "August" and "Your Mind and We Belong Together."
Any of you classic rock diehards remember the Traffic recording "Welcome to the Canteen." It was the last recording by the original Traffic four. Anyway, Traffic brought in a percussion player for that recording, I can't quite recall his name. Anyway, listen to what his conga did for "Dear Mr. Fantasy," "40,000 Headmen," and "Gimme Some Lovin." I don't think Steve Winwood has toured without a percussionist since.
And, I was listening to FC today and was thinking how a conga behind Arthur's monologue in "The Red Telephone," and "AndMoreAgain." would be far out.
So send Michael to percussion on some songs.
And remember, Michael also did some harmony vocals on tunes like "Along Again Or."
Michael does have a place. His presence would increase creditability of Love. That would increase successs and hopefully pave the way for Love to become a Hall of Fame band.
The HOF should be Arthur's legacy, not things outside the music world.

Allan,
You did not read my posting clearly.
You wrote: "bigrubberglove...I think you have it all wrong. Michael has never posted here."
I NEVER SAID HE DID.
You wrote:
"Nor has Michael ever made mention in any forum or otherwise of his intent to rejoin the band, or to ouster Daddy-O. If you read GoodHumorMan's post, he says " Anybody like to see b]Michael Stuart [/b]again banging the drums in Love". He's merely asking for opinions."
YOU LEFT OUT THE REST OF WHAT GOODHUMORMAN WROTE. HIS FULL QUOTE WAS:
"Anybody like to see b]Michael Stuart [/b]again banging the drums in Love.....Michael is alive and well and is receptive to re-joining Arthur and Johnny in Love."
DO YOU NOT SEE HOW "RE-JOINING ARTHUR AND JOHHNY IN LOVE" COULD BE SEEN AS BEING WILLING TO JOIN THE BAND PERMANANTLY?
REGARDING MONEY, YOU WROTE:
"I have to believe that the band is touring because they love their fans, and they love to play some of the best songs and music that has ever been recorded."
ARTHUR LEE IS 60. DO YOU THINK HE LIKES DOING GRUELING TOURS NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, EATING CRAP FOOD AND SLEEPING IN LOUSY HOTELS? I DON'T MEAN TO OFFEND BUT I THINK YOU ARE A LITTLE NAIVE ABOUT THE BAND'S MOTIVATIONS FOR TOURING. YES, THEY MUST GET A RUSH PLAYING TO FANS, BUT THIS IS NO ALTRUISTIC EXERCISE. ARTHUR HIMSELF HAS COMPLAINED THAT HE OFTEN TOURS BECAUSE HE HAS TO. HE WAS IN JAIL FOR 6 YEARS AND NEVER MADE TOO MUCH MONEY FROM HIS ALBUMS. HE IS A MUSICIAN. THIS IS WHAT HE DOES TO MAKE ENDS MEET. AND IN FACT ANOTHER QUOTE OF YOURS ACTUALLY MAKES MY POINT WHEN YOU SAY:
"The money that they make is nothing to write home about."
EXACTLY. YOU PROVE MY POINT. NOW IF YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT PAUL MCCARTNEY OR DAVID BOWIE, THEN YOUR ARGUMENT WOULD MAKE SENSE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT NEED THE MONEY.
ALSO, DOES IN NOT MATTER THAT MICHAEL DISLIKES "FOREVER CHANGES" ?????? TO ME THAT ALONE WOULD MAKE ME LOOK SKEPTICALLY AT IT.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION HERE THAT NOBODY HAS ANSWERED IS;
CAN HE STILL PLAY WELL?
I ASK BECAUSE I CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS BAND. TO ME LOVE IS NOW THE BEST BAND ON THE PLANET AND I AM FEARFUL OF IT BECOMING A CIRCUS/NOSTALGIA ACT.
