Sox fans have more passion in hating the Pinstripes than wanting their team to win. What a negative loser mentality, but its not surprising, after 26 Worls Series, Jeter's 3000 accomplishments and Mariano's unbelievable run. They are dumber than I thought. |

I don't really believe it. Just a good story. I for one, and I believe, SOX fans, en mass, REALLY want the Yanks to beat TB...every game...no matter what a few stated for a good story line!

You know after this season is over I'd think it would be a good idea for Sox management to maybe bring in some sports performance guys to kind of emphasize the MENTAL game with each of the guys. From my perch, the Sox apparently have lost the "edge" at this particular time. If there's one thing I've noticed with the Yankees there's the fact that they've grown to beleive that they are "the best". At times, of course, they're not but nevertheless the fact is that thought is always inside their heads as a team and makes'em win. All teams have to handle pressure. We'll see what Boston's made of kids!... |

I think the Jimmy Golen article has more truth than fiction. Rocker, what you are suggesting cannot be taught. The Yankees always think like champions, no matter, while the Sox think we gotta beat those damn Yankees. The Yankees always try to sign very capable professional players on the bench. So if someone goes down, this guy is there to take over. It's a winning attitude and outlook. It's contagious and if you don't have it you will be gone. |

Maybe but I'll take a cue from tennis. To achieve at a high level today in ghe game, I'd say all players must be tough mentally and no doubt have a sports psych on hand. I'd think the same would go for a "team" just as individuals. They cojuld arguably get something out of it. Now it's almost as if Boston has "caught" something affecting the execution of their game. Something changed? Question is what? Is it talent. No I don't think so. They have it. Belief? Most probably. So conclusion? ......Bad thoughts cause you to S

The Rays finally righted themselves by winning over NY. Now it comes down to 6 games between Tampa, Boston and Los Angeles/California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It will be interesting to see how much of a rivalry the Sox/NY is. I would suspect that NY will rest most of their roster in preparation for the playoffs, but will they just roll over for the Sox when they can spoil their season? Tampa might just miraculously pull this off, but they will need to take care of their own business and get some help. Should be fun to watch.

Sox just might stumble into the playoffs with a 14th inning win over the Bronx Bombers, but I'm none too enthused about their second season chances.Another sports heartbreak. |

Two games to go and Rays/Sox all tied up. I would never have predicted that, but that is the one element (pennant/playoff race) that baseball has that no other sport does; the marathon is almost over, who will prevail? I can see the possibility of a one game playoff on Thursday.

hmmm..The Bosox have had a meltdown. But I'd think in the annals of meltdowns it probably isn't the the worst if they do heave themselves out. Anybody know what was the worst in baseball history??? |

Baseball lore is rife with teams coughing up leads. Try this link if you are interested.

In fairness to BoSox fans, even though it was in post season you can't forget the 2004 ALCS. Down 0-3 to NY, 4 games and one bloody sock later they were on to the World Series.

I know the Sox suffered a mammoth collapse in 1978.Didn't the Phillies fall just as pathetically in 1964 against St. Louis?I believe it was a similar setting.Up 14 games in August..... |

Still tied as both Rays/Sox won. I really believe that the one game playoff will happen between these two, and maybe that is the best way to settle it: on the field between the two of them without another team interfering.
On another note, Dear Atlanta Braves: If you are going to choke this bad, then please hurry up and be done with it. You have no injury excuses to fall back on, and are painful to follow now.
