Mentioned last Christmas. Joan Baez "NOEL" is great. I always play the Bing & Bowie one from a Crosby Christmas show.....one of my all time faves.

Beach Boys Christmas album is a must for sure.

We always put on the brilliant and beautiful Menotti's "Amahl & The Night Visitors"--a Christmas staple and a must....remember when that aired on TV back in 19--...well I won't "date" myself on that one ( I didn't see the premier in 1952....I was barely a toddler)! This kid is brilliant.

Get the original TV cast if you can.....premiered on TV & the first to be written especially for television....back when TV was a brave new place. Here is the whole opera....enjoy.

The ubiquitous George Winston is always on this time of year at my house.

his "December" LP...soothes the savage beast....have a listen. Stop what you are doing first, and close you eyes, and listen. Still gives me chills.

By the way ....George Winston taught himself to play piano by listening to Ray Manzarek. He started playing organ and bass, like Ray, in a band and then moved to piano still using one hand for the bass lines. It works rather well.

( oh, and it's AMAHL, sorry)

That BEATMAS is very cool, Torb!!

lk...get this I picked up "December" last week! I had some of those "Winter Solstice" records so I figured I would add "December". I sure like the arrangements and style. Joy and Canon in particular.

Gaudete by Steeleye Span.....a beautiful sixteenth century carol. Here's a superb live performance from 2004:

Light has arisen. Salvation is come,
Bursting the gates of death.

rocker - Beatmas made one christmas cd.
They play under the name Rubber Band and are a danish Beatles cover band

Some of my favorites are:
Mary Hopkin: Mary had a baby.
Billy J. Kramer: Blue Christmas
Grek Lake: I believe in Father Christmas
just to mention a few
and then there's also this one:

Torb...I love that Greg Lake song! Forgot about it.

Rocker-That December album is fantastic....the first time I played it it was snowing in Maine....magic! Those two tracks you mention are my faves also.

This is from signedRW....

Here's one I play on the air every year at this time; I always get requests for it. One or two more to follow...
