For those who wish to delve further (perhaps much further than you would ever care to) into the poetry of Jim Morrison. He took his art much more seriously than the casual rock fan would ever dream.

So here is a very long essay on Jim's serious poetry....I posted this in answer to "sometimemylifeissoeerie" a few days ago...but, not wanting it to get lost, here it is....

...your thoughts? More than you wish to ever know about Morrison's work, or interesting?....a good topic for your classes, J9?!!

Well this was an eye-opener for me regarding Morrison and his poetry.
'Heavy' stuff from a kind of 'heavy' guy. I would agree with a comment that his poetry brought a very modern (post-modern??) sensibility to the topics he was writing on. There's a reason I think why the Doors see no end to their popularity ending for the deep future. Morrison's poetry and lyrics tied in with the music appear to achieve more than each of them alone. There's certainly something to that combination. I don't know. Maybe they'll give a Phd soon (if not already) in Morrison studies at universities??? From the looks of it he had plenty to say about life and death, sex, and childhood and why we're hanging around here.
