Long interview with Bruce Botick in issue 74 of Tape Op magazine, talking about the Doors, working with Arthur Lee on Forever Changes (about how Arthur was a genius, the band had to get it together, etc) |

November/December 2009 - you can get a free subscription to the magazine on the TapeOp website actually
Most of the article talks about the Doors, but Botnick does talk about Love and David Angels work a little!
LONG interview - still reading it. Interesting if you're interested in recording, Tape Op.. |

Sounds cool as ever. Interesing how those two have a strange history.

interesting love/hate relationship with the Doors
seems to be working on a live Doors box set
The Doors are a band I do not know - were they popular? They certainly never got on the radio as much as LoVE! |

Hah!
I LOVE it. I also just re-read those liner notes for Love Lost. Amazing little slice of that era, I have always been curious about those times they were at CBS.
I must admit, as much as I love The Doors, I feel like there is already so much out about them. I would love to find a Love Live Box Set someday. I feel they did an amazing job with the Love Lost, right down to the retro/futuristic packaging and the new album title.
I wonder if there are any interesting stories in depth Botnick will share again regarding Love. |

You beat me to it, Joe! Very cool interview - the subscription to that magazine is actually free! Enjoying the Love Lost cd this week too. Thanks to "early black friday" sales last week finally broke down and bought a flat screen - christened it with "the last waltz" (Levon is the man! Went to a Ramble at his barn last month, too awesome for words!) but the "forever changes live" dvd is unreal in HDTV! Happy Holidays! |

Are you talking about the most recent Botnick project...The Felt Forum, 6 CD box set of the complete NY, NY shows from 1970. It is brilliant by all accounts. Best live release, along with last year's Matrix CDs.

Probably. I'm not into all those live Doors releases, still haven't heard Other Voices! |

Other Voices should not have been made in my opinion, especially since Elektra tries to make it seem as if that along with the second non-Morrison Doors album never happened.
I do like the song Tightrope Ride however. |

I haven't even tried any non-Morrison albums. Don't care.
But a few of the DOORS live albums are worth hearing...the Matrix-which is pre-mega star days and the great Felt Forum shows which happened during their "come-back" Morrison Hotel tour. What wouldn't we do for a Little Red Book era live concert tape or a Da Capo era FULL live concert album! All we have are post FC leavings. Granted we have the FC Concert in UK which is brilliant, but what wouldn't we do to have an original lineup live set of the caliber of the Matrix show?!!

KD: I agree. It's not like hearing a myriad of Jimi Hendrx concerts bootlegs or something. There's not that much differenc between the shows / versions of the songs with The Doors. Their lack of a bass player may have had something to do with that.
Free the line ups ! |

Whoa! It's obvious we are not at a DOORS forum!! Ray was the master and inspired many with his dual keyboard playing...organ/bass. Hollywood Bowl is a fantastic live (on DVD, check it out!!) show ...where one can see and hear the magic of Morrison (the shaman) and Company create a mystical rock theatre far above your average straight-on rock concert!
Don't get me OR FREED started by saying such things,kd!!

Morrison dances around the stage like a shaman during the live Hollywood Bowl show..all captured for us to enjoy. I think it was on "When The Music's Over" that he did that shaman dance...right, Ed?
