Hello!
What do you think about of the Japanese edition of Forever Changes in 2009 in the format SHM-CD?
How it differs from the deluxe-edition and collector's-edition?

What is the contain of the booklet? There is lyrics?

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. Then please give a link to this topic or perhaps have any reviews in this edition.

This is it. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a short paragraph in English entitled 'album details'. Although the tracklisting is in Japanese, it seems clear that this is in fact, the expanded version of the album from 2001. Japan is a fantastic place to buy music by the way. I've been there a couple of times now....most recently in 2007. In Tokyo alone, there were several huge branches of Tower Records and you could buy any album in all its available editions....remastered, not remastered, with or without bonus tracks. Nor did any of this seem in any way to have been affected by the download revolution.......indeed there were special Napster counters where you could purchase downloads and then have them transferred to any format you wanted. Two years on, I suppose that it might be a little different, but I remember at the time echoing the sentiments of American socialist, John Reed: "I have seen the future........and its works".

The good thing is though, you don't need to go to Japan to purchase all these versions (should you wish to), everything is available on the internet, if you search for it, as you have discovered John by finding this CD!

So is there anyone who can tell us what the bonus tracks are? My japanese is a little rusty!

I've checked both amazon japan and eil.com and the prices work out about the same, it will cost around £37.82 if you order direct from amazon japan and £36.64 if you order from eil.com. Both these prices include shipping and both are too expensive this near Xmas!! Interesting tracklist though!!

I think that the 'four bonus tracks' are the four cuts that were completely new to Forever Changes......Hummingbirds, I Do Wonder and the two sides of the 1968 single. Apart from the enhanced technology, I think that there would be very little that's really new about this edition. This said, Japanese editions of albums always carry the lyrics (in English) and an essay (in Japanese) on the history and discography of the band. Going back to the technology, I cannot imagine how the sound of the 2001 edition could ever be improved upon.......at least for ordinary listeners like me.

Hi Guys

Has anybody listened to this particular disc and if so how does the sound compare with the 2001 version?

Tim
