Buddy Miles is another favorite and Sorry to hear that Ginger is not doing so well. Some great memories, Harvey.
Thanks! Oh and the joke about not being able to both play drums and grow up cracked me up! I guess I have two strikes against me--being a drummer AND an artist!!
Forever young, LK

Ringo..69!...man time flies..well he keeps rockin'..that's what counts!..
Here's a quote from Beatle lore.....
It was asked if Ringo was the best drummer...Allegedly the answer was "he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!". Maybe that's why it got around to people questioning his talent? But I'd guess it was done perhaps more jokingly as the Beatles being tight friends would sure to razz each other.
harvey...you got alot there for a book..good background.... |

Right, rocker. The Boys had fun with the press like Dylan did. That's why I agree too that they may have been having fun with Ringo, whom I believe they respected....otherwise why would they shower him with flowers to get him to come back after being so disgusted with the "Let It Be" sessions and fighting by the others....enough to "quit" the band!

Mono. Stereo will probably sound better than it ever has, but still...the Beatles had a direct hand in MONO only, so it will be mixed to the Beatles' idea as to what and how they wanted us to hear & experience their music.
The White Album in mono especially, since I've never heard it and it is said to be quite good. Mystery Tour & Yellow Submarine also. I have everything else before in mono.

rocker... I'm sure I used that quote back at the start of this thread!!!
I still don't get how anyone can claim Ringo was the 'best drummer' of all time. He was good at what he did but, technically, was no specialist as, I am sure, he would even admit himself. |

Hey Caryne....I'm pretty sure no one is saying Ringo is "The Greatest" here OR anywhere, but he was fortunate to ge a part of a pretty good band. Sometimes the old "guilt by association" applies, but he pulled off his role well enough I would say......enough to give me some enjoyable moments over the years from some remarkable songs. When we get to the level of Ringo and Mitch Michael, it's more a matter of taste than who's "the greatest", wouldn't you say? Ringo is fortunate to be included in the group considered to be the best of the 60's...fortunate AND worthy.
Opinions are a wonderful thing, if given freely and without malice---and validated with an open ear, even if ultimately rejected, after healthy debate, as not of the listener's opinion.
Here's to open minds and free thinkers!
