Just saw the new Doors documentary "When You're Strange" at the LA Film Festival. This is a must see for any Doors or 60s rock junkie like me. A great portrait of Jim Morrison and some great old footage. Just as I remember when seeing them live. Only thing is that I would have liked to see more concert music.

hi Mark!! You're a lucky guy to have seen them LIVE! Would you be so kind as to go to Freed's DOORS board (www.thefreedomman.com/forum ) ..... the best damn DOORS board in the world! There are many there dying to hear from those that actually saw the DOORS live as there are only one or two members that actually saw them and they don't post. I'm a 60's guy too, but never had the pleasure of seeing the DOORS. Airplane, Cream, Nyro...ya.

I'm jamestkirk over there.....

Are you kidding me, bob?!! That's really early DOORS. Did they play a lot of blues covers. Which originals stand out?

You gotta go to Freed's site. Members there are salivating for anyone that has seen them live...to listen and fantasize about those days!

Please join in at Freeds site. Room for you here and there!!

Or if you're shy tell us all here about your DOORS experience and I'll post it at Freed's! Please. Everything that stands out for you and your experience....we're detail crazy at Freed's so the more the better!!

Lemonade Kid, thanks for the suggestion of the Freed's site. I have signed up and will be happy to share my memories of seeing The Doors, especially Ray who was my favorite member of the Doors.

The Merry-Go-Round, and The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, also played!

Wow...al four are favorites...Emitt Rhodes and the Merry Go Round and the PEanut Butter too! The guys at the DOORS boards are spot on...they corrected the date instantly too.
Ballroomdays has some photos of that show.

Were you able to get any photos?

I saw the Doors twice. Once was at the old Phila. Civic Center. This was the very next concert after Jim exposed himself in Florida (1968). Everyone there was thinking and screaming for the same thing "let it all hang out'. But he didn't. It was a tremendous gig. A local band with a very local following led off (The Mandrake Memorial), and the number 2 group was The Soul Survivors.

I next saw them in '69 or '70 at the Phila Spectrum. Another amazing gig

Ballroom posted them at Freed's site some time ago. I'll see.
You know...you guys that saw the DOORS would be superstars at Freed's site. Any fun details about your impressions and moments that stand out that you would care to relate would be much appreciated and I'll send them along to Freed's board, if you prefer!!
