Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about the best way to format your mp3 collection
I'm undecided as to whether this works best
artist-year-album-song.format
eg
Funkadelic-1970-Maggot brain-Hit it and quit it.mp3
which gives you everything alphabetically or
year-artist-album-song.format
eg
1970-Funkadelic-Maggot brain-Hit it and quit it.mp3
which gives you everything chronologically
I reckon the advantage of the chronological one is that you can select "play all" and get like a history of music
but maybee it could be tricky to find tunes and if you just wanna say listen to your Cohen tracks thats four decades of music so they'd be spread out all over the place
Ya, I catalog mine alphabetically by Artist/Title, but Artist/Year/Title sounds good actually for the history of each artist. By the YEAR would be a nightmare for me, especially if I forgot what year, say, "Recent Songs' by Leonard Cohen was released! That would drive me crazy. But I like Artist/Year/Title...hadn't thought of that!
