Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) & Tom Waits,

...strange and surreal...a cover here of a Tom Waits song--Ol' Tom appears too

DOG DOOR
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahx5ws90jiU

From the album 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Video directed by the Quay Brothers for Sundance's 'Sonic Cinema'. Produced and mixed by Mark Linkous at Tarbox Road Studios, NY. Recorded at Static King, VA and Joe Hoffman Studio, CA. Lyrics by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan. Mark plays drums, guitar, optigan, backwards midget voice, and sampler. Adrian Utley plays kitty cat guitar and fuzzy ending bass. Tom Waits sings and plays big seed pod, metal things, and train.

The next track moves into the beautiful & sombre

Jaga Jazzist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28fk5jVxE2E Im not a great fan of electronica or jazz but this has so much more!

it starts out in a psychedelic/electronica chillout mode, goes into a cinematic almost horror state then jazz

and ends in a sort of kombination of the genres keeping the melody all the way!

Two of the members,Lars Horntvet and Øystein Moen are also members in Susanne Sundførs band since The Brothel (2010), Lars Horntvet even produced The Brothel and Co arrangeded the songs with Susanne.

Combine one of today's finest female singers (shades of Janis Joplin) with a brilliant guitarist and what do you get?

Glad you liked it, Bobby. It is the style of music I like, and for me "I'll Take care of You" is the track of the century so far - an extravagent claim maybe, but I can't think of anything better. It comes from Joe and Beth's stunningly good album "Don't Explain" which, again, is one of the best albums I've bought in the 2000s.

We've all heard her, but you wouldn't recognize her if you saw her.
She's just a shot away.

The inventor of the neo classical heavy metal long before it went fast, annoying and predictable!

Ritchie Blackmore with the Lancasters in 65 with Satans holiday, a great surf/garage version of Edvard Grieg In the mountain Hall (1876)
