Thought this might be a good topic for us here(didn't see it anywhere on this site?)....any video
you'd like to share. (from youtude, dailymotion or wherever)

Here is one of my favorite artists & an all time favorite song, for me.

"Poverty Train" by Laura Nyro from Monterey Pop.

Lemonadekid - thanks for the fantastic Nyro/Monterey clip - at the age of 19, she bore more than a passing resemblence in manner and appearance to our own Amy Winehouse! The audience seem to be in both awe and admiration of Poverty Train - one of her many superbly uncompromising compositions. A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to meet Suzanne Vega - she wrote the tribute on the Legacy edition of New York Tenderberry. The brief but entire conversation was taken up with Laura Nyro's own legacy.

Thanks for the kind words, j9. New York Tendaberry and Eli & the 13th Confession are my favorites, but Christmas & The Beads Of Sweat is right up there
for me too.
That IS really such a wonderful clip of Laura. As I've said before (hope I'm not sounding tiresomely repetitive), when I saw her in 1970 live at U of Iowa fieldhouse, she played solo
on her grand piano. So fine! The picture of her pouring out her soul-felt songs will stay with me forever....her beauty & depth......
Nice of Vega to be so not-into-herself by talking about Laura Nyro. You can tell where Susanne
Vega's roots are.

(and poor Amy doesn't look like she's long for this world....am I not seeing her rightly?)

Besides this "You Set the Scene" from the Hentry Fonda Theater, put up by Jazmaan, -- I'm sure everyone has seen it -- which I prefer to the version on the DVD:

There's this oddity. Glenn Miller's "Perfidia." For some reason it catches at my heart. The wavering sound, the close harmonies, the scratches. A message from a time long gone.

hey ed! cool cool cool.....man....right another time another era...g-r-e-a-t!...I was watching a film noir the other day and there was some music in it..I was mesmerized by the songs...they brought me into another time and that's the great thing about music, it can re-create a certain spot in time so one can get the 'feel' if you will of that time...Glenn's music really does it...

One of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs ever written. Dylan said he would have been
proud to have written this.

For A Spanish Guitar Gene Clark

Lemonadekid -Spanish Guitar - a great song from one of the very best singer-songwriter albums. From the same year (1971) I present Sandy Denny performing The North Star Grassman and the Ravens for the BBC. I think that it has the same haunting and timeless appeal as that old Scottish/Borders ballad The Twa Corbies. Sandy herself really did have the voice of an angel - even when she tried to ruin it with booze and cigarettes. Between 1970 and 1977, I saw her four times. But one bright spring day in 1978, I was discharged from hospital after months of difficult treatment. I bought a copy of The Guardian .......and then found myself reading her obituary.

I think that Holidays and Unhalfbricking are Fairport's two very best. Sandy's voice was never better than on A Sailor's Life. Incidentally, Fledgling are due to release Fotheringay 2 soon. Of course, there never was such an album - the sessions for a second album eventually morphed into the those for Sandy's first proper solo release - but the record company seem have found enough material to warrant the release of a 'lost' album - should be interesting.

Anyway, I'm off to the South of France now for a few days of warmth and sunshine. Au revoir everyone!
