Just to let everyone know that these are now out in the UK - and mine have arrived with this morning's post. Although Collectors' Choice do a wonderful job on deleted albums, I do wish that they would make the booklets a little more substantial. In neither case has the inner gatefold illustration been included. This said, 'Out Here' has an interesting interview with Jay Donnellan and he offers his own thoughts on the relationship between this album and 'Four Sail'. Additionally he provides reflections upon his own dismissal from the group and how Love missed out on Woodstock. Similarly 'False Start' carries some revelations from the excellent Gary Rowles about the Noony Rickett connection and he goes into some detail about the legendary Olympic session from 1970 - in particular, his own time with Hendrix and how the jam at the end of 'Everlasting First' was originally twenty minutes long! He cites Arthur's increasing drug dependancy as the main reason for leaving Love very soon after the recording of the album - it looks as though things were really bad towards the end! Unfortunately, there is no session or detailed personnel information on either release whilst Hendrix and Donnellan do not receive their co-writing credits. Neither is there is reference to any remastering process. I suppose though that it is entirely possible that Collectors Choice (who are now apparently a division of Universal) have simply used last year's remasters from 'The Blue Thumb Recordings' - but such subtleties lie well beyond my own aural range. It has to be said that Collectors Choice have arranged the colouring on the two releases in such a way that they are are really pretty to look at - especially 'Out Here'. |

Hi john this is my 1st post! I was wondering about the 2 reissues myself as to whether or not they were remastered or not? and to answer the question, yes they are the same remastered recordings from blue thumb box set!! How i know this is, when i ripped them to my windows player to make a copy it listed them as the blue thumb recordings disc 1 with the red cover from the box set! Then to check i did a wave test on the new reissue and my old out here cd there was no comparison collectors choice did use the remastered version!! it sounds fantastic!! |

Thanks manboob - and a warm welcome. What you have written has certainly put my mind at rest. I had been trying to compare the sound of 'Flying' from the two editions and hadn't been able to make up my mind as to whether they were different or not. Although no one could honestly say that 'False Start' contains Love's best music, I think that its production quality has always been up there with the finest. I especially remember when buying up Love's catalogue on vinyl in 1971 just how diamond sharp the sound on 'False Start' seemed when compared with the Elektra releases - two of which were being ill served over here by some extremely poor pressings. |

Thanks john for the warm welcome thats cool! Im glad i can give you some info to make you rest your mind! Im the same way im very fussy about whether or not a cd is remastered or not. I had all the original cds that came out in the 80's and when they were remastered that was the best finally to have them sound fantastic! |

I'm kinda glad they are the same as the Hip-O set, because I ain't got the bread to buy these albums yet again.
AS far as the vinyl versions go, Out Here cannot be touched. It will blow your mind.
