last weekend , i bought 2. Steve Earl's " sidetracks": great Steve Miller's" Italian X Rays": sucks. well he had some cool stuff back then like on " Children of the Future", but man,i shoulda seen the red flag warning me it was released in 1984! anyone for dominating keyboards and overly robotic new wave drums?

USA...just wondering how many albums did they do?..if it's one they're pretty remembered!..they exactly weren't up there on the charts if I can recollect...
just to mention.. I had Odyessy and Oracle by the Zombies but hadn't listened to it for a very long time....after listening recently I think it's an atypical album for that time when it came out...late 60's right?..the songs and melodies were just different.. they didn't fall into that 4/4 rock timing....I read that Al Kooper was a big fan of them...anyway the Zombies were up there with musical talent... |

The Best of Tim Buckley. He wrote the Song to the Siren, which Robert Plant covered so beautifully in his album, Dreamland. I wanted to hear the original. I think I like the cover better, but I do like the Buckley album. Another promising musician who wasn't around long. |

'The Yardbirds at the BBC' - just ordered from a market trader in Switzerland. From the short extracts I have managed to play online, it sounds fantastic. They were surely one of the most seminal bands ever. |

Do you mean the 'Yardbirds-BBC Sessions'. If yes, it's a fabulous CD. One of my favorites. I really like 'Mister You're a Better Man than I'

Allan - yes that's the one I mean - and after what you've written I am looking forward even more to its arrival. I never actually saw the band live - but The Yardbirds used to appear on BBC's Top of the Pops frequently - especially after the Eric Clapton era. A very good friend of mine rues to this day the missed opportunity he had to see the The New Yardbirds in 1968 - just before they became Led Zeppelin. cheers, John |
