Gale Garnett got to No. 4 in the Billboard Hot 100 with this song in September 1964:

I wasn't aware of Ms Garnett's version as here in the UK the song was covered by The Lancastrians and that was the one I bought - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ_Z4fLJ_Rw . Guitarist on this single was Big Jim Sullivan, while a young Jimmy Page played session guitar on the rather good B side, "Was She Tall".

Sgt Peppers was released in the summer- June 1st, 1967...it all always be a summer album for me...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVQe_DQvqL0

Released on 1 June 1967, it was an immediate commercial and critical success, spending 27 weeks at the top of the albums chart in the United Kingdom and 15 weeks at number one in the United States. Time magazine declared it "a historic departure in the progress of music" and the New Statesman praised its elevation of pop to the level of fine art. It won four Grammy Awards in 1968, including Album of the Year, the first rock LP to receive this honor.

That whole It's A Beautiful Day LP is a summertime must listen!

It's A Beautiful Day! 1970 Vinyl Conversion...the only way to REALLY enjoy this masterpiece-vinyl.

This is one of those gems that can only be appreciated, visually & sonically with the original vinyl. The first 1969 pressing on the Columbai two-eye label is brilliant and re-remix of the 1970 "reissue" is very different on several tracks.. A sweeter mix and some tracks sound like they are completely different from the big selling 1970 re-release after White Bird became a huge underground FM staple.

Girl With No Eyes...such a hauntingly beautiful song.

Scottish, not British.

It is said that their Inside/Outside LP began its recording sessions in the studio until they pretty much destroyed the sound equipment with the high volume, then went "outside" to record the rest!
