Posted - 10/11/2011 : 20:58:14 This is the alterate take that was mistakenly pressed for only the first day at the plant in 1971; it's only on the Hot Licks greatest hits double LP. (It also contains a rougher take of Brown Sugar...never officially released either...very cool.)
I have it and it lists for $800-1000...I never knew it back then of course. I just thought it was an alternate version like Country Honk. If you haven't watched Gimme Shelter much you might not have noticed this take as unusual.
I love it...no harmony, no solo lead, & that tack piano played by Jim Dickinson is very nice in the forefront, but is pushed back on the official release for Sticky Fingers with lead guitar taking over.
