Posted - 01/02/2011 : 21:43:25 I understand The moral court episode was Melvan and James Mitchell Jr. a guy he played the blues with on the promenade in Santa Monica.
Apparently James Mitchell Jr released an album - anyone got a tape?
I'm assuming the song they played together is on the album? Can anyone confirm?
Off to listen to Mornings 1st album (with Jay Donnellan/Lewis) - thanks lk! |

Seemed to be upset that he didn't really get his due for playing on "Five String Serenade"

Always surprised to hear Mazzy Star did well with the record, as its not a great record; kudos to them for tackling a Love track, but its not a decent cover |

Posted - 24/01/2011 : 05:04:07 tape of an acetate I mean, being the source for the Black Beauty cd available
I recollect Rozelle being interviewed by Delaney in an issue of The Castle (issue 15? 16?) and talking about Black Beauty, might even have been an old picture of the cover work
(it was one of the later issues - with only 48 pages compared to the earlier 100 page issues up to 13 (including 13) - I remember because I soon stopped purchasing issues of the Castle because it had gotten cut to half the page count!)
I wish I could remember who was playing guitar in that old (late 90s?) episode of Moral Court (ABC TV) - it might have been Rozelle. It was funny cos the issue that the judge had to rule on was whether Rozelle (or Whittington, or whoever it was) was gonna be given credit for his work cut on another gentlemans album
It was a lot of fun cos the two guys (defendant and plaintiff) broke out their guitars and starting playing a song in the courtroom which was thoroughly enjoyable.
I remember distinctly lps being handed to the judge and Love's Real to Reel being among them
I don't think those guys that toured with Arthur in the 70s in the UK ever recorded much aside from Love. The only thing I recollect about that period is that Bryan was rumored to be going along, but it never came off
I think Tjay did some work after Love, as well as Echols (who seems to have done session work)
Of course the Blackberries who sang on Real to Reels Everybodys gotta live, along with Rozelle singing and the rest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR5oQDUsnns
members of whom turn up later on albums as disparate as Nick Drake's Bryter Layter and Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moo |

Posted - 24/01/2011 : 04:40:11 Robert didn't have an acetate. He was offered one in the 70s and declined it because he just wanted a copy of the finished product. He told me that in 2006. Joe Blocker has one, Mark Linn, and a few other people. Robert told me that Arthur had a bunch and used them as coasters.
Got to love it. |
