wondering if there might any recordings of his last band in Memphis, just prior to his passing over?! God, that would be wonderful, even a practice tape, whatever. there must be something!

Re female guitarist from Memphis playing at memorial service in LA here.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the female guitarist played at Arthur's funeral in Memphis. My reading of all this is that there was intent from Arthur to play in Memphis, and Mark Linn got some musicians together to that end, but that he was really too ill to do it. At that time as well relations with the BL guys were not good from memory, as it followed Arthur not showing for the last UK tour in 2005.

KD: Just Love covers and apparently there was no "new" material.
If Arthur couldn't get it together with BL then some bunch of new
guys from Memphis wouldn't be able to help him do that, that's for sure.

Free the songs !

Absolutely -- the whole thing seemed a little off centre...

At least we have lots of recordings of AL upto 2005 though.

There were some posts/discussions on the band back in 2006 -- in fact I think Greg Roberson (not sure of spelling) from the band itself posted on here for a while. In the context of Arthur being ill though, I find it hard to go back and read some of those posts.

Any detail on where you read this?

I thought I read it somewhere on this group back then. I'll see if I can find the post...

Yes it's a good one - and on a par with a much earlier quotation from Arthur. On being asked (in around 1975) about the current whereabouts of Gary Rowles and Jay Donnellan, he replied "too bad there ain't no market for nice guys".

Thanks -- I remember that Mojo article, must say at the time I was a bit doubtful about the whole thing. Nice Arthur quote though:
"until i know who's in the band for sure... i'm not gonna bother learning any names"

Any detail on where you read this? Be interesting to know if they ever even played together, I got the impression that very little had actually happened, but would like to know one way or the other.

finally, a response! thanx. Arthur's last recordings, with that Memphis band, are important and a closure to his recording legacy!
