Having spent the past week or so on myspace discovering bands i'd never heard of, i was just wondering if anyone on here were fans of any of these bands (below) and any suggestions as to where i could buy their material.
the tages skip bifferty the smoke les fleur de lys Apple Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera Fire the action simon simopath (nirvana) dantalian's chariot locomotive forever amber 49th parallel rubble on random rotation the aerovons
theyre all fantastic bands and there are some great tracks available to listen to on myspace.

Check http://www.freakemporium.com Then try searching at http://www.gemm.com/, http://www.netsoundsmusic.com/ http://www.musicstack.com/ http://www.amazon.co.uk (The new and used sections that come up on the right under more buying choices) as sometimes you will find that whilst Freak Emporium has a great stocklist they can be beaten on price.
I've got a Les Fleur de Lys CD called Reflections and some tracks from some of the other bands you mention on compilations. Reflections collects work the band did under various names. The booklet for the CD is interesting reading as they worked with a lot of acts as support or backing band including to some Atlantic artists, made unreleased recordings with Hendrix and the Vanilla Fudge. When the band finished their lead guitarist Bryn Haworth went over to San Francisco where he was in a band with Leigh Stevens, ex Blue Cheer and then onto other bands before returning to the UK and working as a solo artist. He is still in the music business: http://www.tradmusic.com/artistinfo.asp?artistID=1090
Keyboardist Pete Sears left them to join Sam Gopal and then Jefferson Starship, he reportedly has the Hendrix tapes. He had a soldering iron onstage at every gig repairing his Hohner Pianet, one night the piano collapsed, the legs giving way, the rest of the band just played on!
There's a brief summary here but the booklet in the CD has much more detail: http://www.geocities.com/fabgear6366/fleurdelys.htm |
