Old Man

Rory Gallagher has been a 'regular' of my personal choices for a long time. I especially like his S/T and Deuce, right after Taste ended. I did get to see him one time back in '74 at a very small venue in Camden NJ. He was kickin' on 'Messin with the Kid'.

I remember when Taste was being touted as Ireland's answer to Cream. 'Blister on the Moon', Born on the Wrong Side of Town and 'Sugar Mama' are just awesome.

Sadly, another wonderful musician that left us too soon. RIP Rory.

Well Taste were the first live band I ever saw, when i was 15 I think. They were support to Stone The Crows at that time. Rory was amazing. I have most of his albums on vinyl. Finally got a DVD player about 3 years ago so gradually building my collection. Irish tour '74 was my first DVD. His death was a real shock, as he was so young.

the question, " what are you listening to right now?", i think
implies, in general , what are you into now, musically in detail.
or it could mean litterally, what record are you listening to right now at home. or it could mean , what are you listening to right now, music or no music or that neighbor blabbing or that car blasting the rap/hip-hop boomboom.
i guess we're talking about what we're INTO right now.

It's a bit late to define the question, 19 pages into the thread! ;)

I've been listing the song that happened to be on at the time of posting!

Ali Farka Toure - 'Savane'
On learning that he was terminally ill with cancer, Ali put everything into making one final album, which has now been given a posthumous release.
Anyone who thinks that they will never get into African music, PLEASE think again. This is a truly remarkable record of African blues, as heartfelt as it gets. Read a few online reviews if you must, then open your wallets.

Just found this quote from Ry Cooder re. ' Savane'.
"Absolutely perfect. A truly great piece of work" 'Nuff said?
