Tonight it was a Weather Report/The Who night. All night, I did Who's Next, and I Sing the Body Electric.

Then of course I jumped back to Out Here.

Finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Butterfield Blues Band - East<->West (another great Elektra record) and gave it a listen for the first time ever last night. I liked it. I thought it got better (read: mo' psychedelic) as it went on. When did that come out.. '66?
They would qualify as another very early inter-racial band.

clifford brown and max roach
starbuck's sly & the family stone comp - not the remixes
cat power - the greatest
donald fagen - morph the cat
the kinks - the singles
matisyahu - youth
belle & sebastian - the life pursuit
rock and roll hall of fame show : pistols letter was a highlight,
miles davis jam was cool (great to see mike stern), frank infante from blondie's mini-rant, debbie harry's vocals sad.
hipped some of my band students to 'orange skies' - my flutes really dug it.

Last summer I was riding around for about a week or two with East-West in my car. I was hooked on the title track, it is around 13 minutes or so, but it was completely hypnotic especially when just cruising around at night (for me anyways).

Earlier today I was listening to The Stones' December's Children album. It hasn't grown on me yet, I prefer 12 x 5 out of the earlier stuff I have heard.

Currently it's 'Buried Alive in the Blues' from a Big Brother & the Holding Company show from Seattle in 1987 - celebrating after finding out they are touring the UK in the summer. Yeehaaa!

I also mention a band, " Apollo Sunshine"'s 2nd cd, self titled, as a wonderful wake-up to what we can be in rock when we just ROCK! the cd is amazing!
