I'm curious about Love fans' other favorite "pop" records from the same period (jazz, etc. is a whole nutha list). My top three are usually: Electric Ladyland- Jimi Pet Sounds- Beach Boys White Album- Beatles
(Kinda predictable, but I gotta say I've gravitated toward those more than any others.)

Nice lists! Must admit I haven't heard any of Mr. Blues Singers choices. I'll try to check 'em out. Stefaan, dig your taste..(the shiver-inducing Nick Drake, the mighty Joni, the mythical, mystical Astral Weeks..)

Uggh, can't stop:
Richard P. Havens 1983- Richie Havens...This is a massively underrated record from '69 by the great black folkie. Trippy, apocalyptic (Orwellian premonitions), part Leonard Cohen and part Lennon. I think it's still unavailable on cd. Tragic.
Velvet Underground: and Nico/ self-titled/Loaded Nick Drake: Bryter Layter/Pink Moon Funkadelic: (pretty much all their stuff Neil Young: After the Gold Rush
