Caryne, sincerely, my intention is not to make mischief, but to further my knowledge of the recent 'goings on' in the band. I have been a fan of the band for about 20 years, but it is only from finding this site recently that I have become aware of recent 'issues.' I am certainly not mischief making, or attempting to make you make comments you may later have cause to regret.
I will, as you suggest, read some more of Mikes diary. What I've read so far - the very recent posts - is excellent. A real insight.
Anyway, peace.
Pete

My apologies, Mosquito, but, I am afraid, you cannot be too careful these days. As I said, you will get most of the information you want frm Mike's Diaries, so keep reading. Hope you get to see 'Love' very soon. |

Hey, was my cover of Riders really so bad that people kept a tactful silence?

Jim, I think you shouldn't expect too huge of a reaction from a Love board to a note-by-note cover of a Doors tune :).
I thought it was all right (would work for a Friday night, and certainly not 'bad' :) with a good job on the vocals and good representation of the original sound textures. |

I think my next challenge will be to try a couple of Love covers, just to see how authentic we can get the sound. Perhaps Alone Again Or for starters... |

Not being funny (and I love The Doors) but never really seen the point of 'note by note' covers of any song...sorry |

Caryne, I agree there really is no point. However, as a musician struggling to find direction (and confidence), I find it a useful exercise to do stuff like this. It helps get me back into the swing of things and also helps me to learn how to use all this new fangled PC-based home recording stuff.
I find all this Stars In Your Eyes kind of ****e staggeringly dull but I just think we managed to recreate some of the feel of the original. Maybe one day I will get the bottle to write a song of my own... |

However, me and my mate have recorded a pretty decent (I reckon) cover of Riders on the Storm. Anyone want to check it out?
Here's a link to the .mp3 just in case...

This link wouldn't work for me Jim unfortunately! |
